We stayed at Kraft Hotel where the restaurant is located. Before heading up to the 5th floor for the breakfast buffet, we asked the front desk if we were too late and we were told there was plenty of time to enjoy the buffet. The buffet hours are 7:30 am to 10:30 am. At 10:25 we arrived in the lobby of the restaurant and the greeter happily seated us even after we asked again if we were too late. Then all heck broke loose...a person we assume was the manager or coffee bar manager then publicly and loudly stood in the middle of the room and said, “YOU MUST BE MEXICAN! ARE YOU FROM MEXICO? PEOPLE FROM MEXICO SLEEP LATE AND THEN WANT TO EAT! THE BREAKFAST IS FROM 7:30 am to 10:30 am! WE CLOSE AT 10:30!” I wanted to hide under the table...everyone looked at us as this horrible man publicly shamed us. Then this same man brought a cappucino to me after he took chocolate sauce and wrote “7:30 to 10:30” on the foam. I then got up and left in tears. I went to the front desk of the Kraft Hotel to report this man. (He bore a striking resemblance to the child catcher in the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang). The hotel manager was apalled at my story and said she would speak with the employee BUT that he always jokes around too much and does not know when to stop. This was a horrible way to...
Read moreWent there for dinner. The terrace is beautiful and the service is very nice, but the food is honestly below mediocre, especially given the location and price. The food is in this place very clearly caters at tourists who have no idea what proper Mediterranean food tastes or looks like (apologies to my American and German friends out there)
We started with the salmon, 6 slices of cured salmon with a few sad leaves of salad thrown on. Not the best, but acceptable. Then came the mains: a sad piece of chicken, with looked like it came from the Carrefour a few blocks down, and the worst of them all: pasta with mushrooms, basically spaghetti with some canned mushrooms thrown on top. They even forgot the pinons that were in the dish description, and when I asked to add it, they didnt even bother to toast them, just threw a couple dried pinons on top of it all. It was all so low effort that it became laughable.
It looked like the Italian waiters themselves were embarrassed at what they were serving. Props to them, because the service was very good from all the staff, but nothing can salvage such poor food experience.
If you want to go for a drink, the cocktails and the view are great. If you're in for good...
Read moreIf you find yourself in Florence, Italy, and enjoy seafood, I highly encourage you to try the branzino with salt crust at the Hotel Kraft's rooftop restaurant, Terrazza Rossini. The sea bass, a generous portion for two, is of exceptional quality and served tableside. We were fortunate to have Federico expertly remove the salt crust with a mini hammer—the fish was perfectly seasoned and served with fresh asparagus, green beans, and potato wedges. As a bonus, the outdoor seating has stunning views of the city and the surrounding Tuscan foothills. The beautiful views, the natural beauty of Florence, and the delectable meal made a memorable first impression on my delightful culinary...
