Firstly, the hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location for exploring metera. The room was sensationally designed and fitted. Be ready for lots of white and mirrors! The bed and pillows were comfortable too. Service was excellent and staff were very helpful and friendly. I’ll start with the smallest issues, firstly there is some evident ware and tear on some of the fittings in the room that, while spotless, could be replaced. It just detracts from almost perfection. The TV should have some smarts to it, seems very dated, no apps and no connectivity to anything. Where the breakfast buffet is placed is very very tightly packed, you can find yourself spending your entire time at the buffet moving out of the way for staff or other guests, makes it a competitive sport to get to browse the breakfast offerings some mornings. These are all small issues I can overlook. The biggest problem is the toilet in the room. There is no door between the toilet and the bedroom, just a small detached wall. So your toilet business is visible to whoever you are sharing the room with. Yep both sights and smells. We came up with a system of leaving the room to use the toilet at the hotel bar while the other used the room toilet for privacy. Hardly ideal. This would be my key memory of this hotel. Otherwise if you have no need for privacy this is...
Read moreThis hotel needs to urgently train their breakfast staff to understand allergies. My wife has an allergy to egg and was given a pancake that was said to be egg free only to be told later it had egg in. She was not well for two days as a result. Getting breakfast was impossible and staff had no idea. It’s like we were just being “awkward”. We were constantly told some things were egg free, to find out they were not. |The management however were excellent with the feedback and gave us a lunch by way of apology which was appreciated. We weren’t along for anything like lunch but we wanted to let them know it’s not good enough. Especially when breakfast is a key part of the hotel experience. |Pool, spa area is really nice and we appreciated the one hour slot we had. |Room was pretty nice although a bit loud as tourists just walk past the front door due to prime location. Pillows were really hard and thick. First time in our lives we’ve had to request softer pillows but they did provide them.. We couldn’t sleep on the initial ones. Not sure I’d stay here again mainly sure to the lack of food and allergy awareness with the...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Aquatio Cave Luxury Hotel and Spa in Matera, and it was an unforgettable experience. The rooms are carved out of historic caves, offering a unique and enchanting atmosphere that blends modern luxury with ancient charm. The location is perfect, nestled within the Matera Sassi UNESCO World Heritage site, providing easy access to the city’s main attractions. The hotel’s amenities are top-notch. I particularly enjoyed the spa facilities, which include a sauna, hammam, and a heated indoor pool. The staff were incredibly professional and attentive, ensuring that all my needs were met with a smile. The cleanliness of the rooms and common areas was impeccable, adding to the overall comfort of my stay. One minor downside was the cost of some extras, which felt a bit high. Additionally, while the cave-themed rooms are stunning, they might not be for everyone due to the unique layout and lighting. Despite these small issues, the overall experience was exceptional, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and unique...
