For 3€ (student price, full price was 5€) you are able to see a fully furnished cave as it was left when it was abandoned around 1950. Along the living cave you are also able to see the little cave church and the “ice cave”. English audio guide is included in the ticket price. You might have to wait around 15 minutes, as they are letting in small groups. The whole visit takes up to 25minutes if you take your time.

A significant part of Matera's History not even that far away back to past years. Changes of lifestyle for resident people, definitely came in 1952... That means : tap water, electricity and sanitary facilities in new apartments, not always as large as families would've needed. But... that was the new suggestion for a BETTER FUTURE.

Casa grotta nei Sassi molto bella. Con mobili ed oggetti dell' epoca ben disposti. Offre una buona panoramica della vita di chi ha trascorso la sua vita in quella casa grotta che è rimasta abitata sino al 1958. Diversi ambienti molto interessanti come la camera da letto, la cucina, la stalla e la cantina. Tutto corredato anche da fotografie dell' epoca. Mentre si osservano gli ambienti viene mandato un audio che spiega in modo molto chiaro tutto quello che riguarda la casa e la sua storia. Possibile anche visitare, a parte, l' adiacente Cripta di Sant' Andrea, antichissimo luogo di preghiera dei monaci eremiti completamente scavata nella roccia. Tutto molto bello e ben organizzato. Costo della Casa Grotta 2,5 euro. Costo della Cripta 2,5 euro. Complessivamente 5 euro molto ben spesi.

Grota warta odwiedzenia, aby zobaczyć jak żyli kiedyś na codzień mieszkańcy Matery, dobrze wyposażona trzykondygnacyjna grota, temperatura na ostatnim poziomie gdzie było trzymane wino i generalnie był magazyn to 14 stopni. Nie polecam za to wejścia do krypty, która jest zaraz obok, nic ciekawego tam nie ma, oprócz krzyży na suficie i ścianach i szkieletu ludzkiego. Grota na + Krypta na - Bilet za grotę i kryptę 5 euro, a za samą grotę 3 euro. Bardzo miła i pomocna Pani z obsługi, która pięknym angielskim opowiadała nam trochę historii tego miejsca! Dobrze wyposażony sklep w pamiątki i wszędzie pełno gwizdków Cucco! Polecam! Uwaga! Przerwa od 14:00 do 15:30.

Definitely worth visiting while visiting Matera. You will see awesome exhibitions and realize how people lived decades ago. The entrance fee is not high and you can spend quality time.
