We have stayed here for two nights out of three (we booked in February last), and unfortunately for us we have to cut short our stay and return home immediately for family reasons. The staff member I encountered was very abrupt and unconcerned about my plight, saying we were obliged to pay for the third night as their policy is cancellation must be two days before arrival. On checking my booking confirmation paperwork I cannot find any reference to that - it simply says “Free cancellation - pay later”. Very sad to leave Milan early and this €€€ penalty on top of the extra flight costs that were are incurring cuts deeply!! Be AWARE and double check the fine detail when you book.|On a positive note, the hotel itself is very intimate in an excellent location away from the busy Centre (which is accessible via various transport links). Rooms are tiny but adequate. For example, the Junior Suite we stayed in at €405 per night was, IMHO, a double room with a lounge chair in the corner, not enough room for two other than to sleep. No mini bar and no food to be consumed in the room. Maybe...

The hotel is inside of a gated courtyard. It has a charming exterior, and the room was attractive. Relative to other options in the city the price was affordable.
However, the beds were hard and the pillows long past the point of needing to be replaced because of a lack of softness. The shelf in our shower was tipping forward, you could not put a bar of soap or shampoo on it because they slipped off -- and the disheartening thing was the the proprietors must have known this because they had a permanent sign about the shelf not being secure, as compared to simply preparing it. The outlet in the bathroom and one of the outlets in our room did not work. The breakfast was mediocre, compared to included breakfasts we experienced at other hotels in Italy. Air conditioning was poor, we ended up sleeping with the window open and tolerating the road noises.
It's directly next door to the The David. However, from here to Milan's city center (and just about everything else we wanted to visit) was a 12...
