DO NOT STAY HERE! BED BUGS!!!!
Very traumatized and upset about my first experience at a hostel. At first the receptionist was very friendly and things seems fine. The actual room seemed clean, though the washroom sink was clogged upon arrival which they did fix.
My friend and I were booked to stay for a total of 3 nights. After the first night my friend noticed red spots that slowly developed into larger welts and by the end of the day she was covered. After googling bed bug bites, hers were textbook. So we went to the reception to complain and a man who did speak as much English called the initial lady who helped us and instead of being sympathetic, she said they must be mosquito bites or from the train we took. they then said that they would not do anything without proof. The owner came about half an hour later at this point being 1:30am. He came with us to our room and rudely yelled at us and was very defensive. He merely Scanned the top of the bed with his phone light and not until I told him to look closer did her just flip up the bed sheet and did not look thoroughly at all. As it was late, my friend suggested that she would share my bed for the remainder of the night and request to change rooms in the morning. He left and I continued to check for bugs when we finally found a dead shell, we quickly took pictures and went downstairs to complain and provide this proof he had wanted. Instead of coming back to settle the situation, he simply slept and did not even answer the phone. At 2:30/3am we finally decided that there was nothing we could do at the point since he wasn't going to come so we went back to the room and washed up. My friend has taken an antihistamine so she fell asleep on my bed now quite quickly. When I got out of the washroom I noticed a bug bed bug crawling on her so I killed it. And then later there was one crawling on the wall. There was no way I was going to sleep or stay in the room at this point so I went out to the common area where I also saw another bed bug crawling on the wall and took a video. Clearly this meant that the bed bug situation is quite bad if it can spread to the larger common area. And also meant we did not bring them with us if it's not just in our room. I stayed up and sat away from all the walls from 4am-8am until his son finally came in to speak. He only offered a refund for my friend since it didn't necessarily affect me directly. I was not pleased.
We went downstairs and talked to the owner who was completely rude and even after showing him the proof, said we brought them and caused a problem. I wanted a full refund because it meant we had to book elsewhere last minute, launder our clothing, as well as buy medication. He only gave me one night back which was completely ridiculous. I was willing to call the police to complain and shut them down as I now had photo and video evidence and he completely avoided it. Exhausted at the point we just took what we could and I told everyone who I saw staying there the situation.
Please do not stay here for your own sake. Even if you are bit by a bug some people do not react to them. But the eggs or bugs can follow you on clothing. I am not completely paranoid about everything and has washed all the clothes and sprayed with a bed big...
Read moreOne of the worst experiences I've ever had travelling Europe. DO NOT STAY HERE!!
I go to register at the desk, and I told him I read a few recent reviews about the bed bug issues, he pretended like he could not understand my English, so I attempted to explain it a few times. He then looks at my mosquito bites, and tells me that I have bed bugs. Which I did not, they are clearly mosquito bites, looked at by a pharmacist. At that point I gave up about the issue, I would just go check myself.
He then tells me there is a hold on my card for €87, but in reality I had already been charged for €87 euros, I showed him my online banking and he brushes it off, and rudely tells me he's going to charge my card €90 euros. Super confused as to why I am being charged twice, he starts brushing me off and is trying to hurry me to my room. I am still trying to be clam and collected because I have to stay here for three nights.
I go to the room, and start checking the beds for bed bugs, long behold I find a few bugs and eggs. To which I then mentally refuse to stay there, I take my stuff down stairs and proceed to tell him I've found bed bugs. He starts to yell at me and is telling me there are no bugs, and takes me upstairs to my room, I then show him the ones I found and he starts laughing in my face, "this is nothing, this is nothing". At this point I am done with being disrespected and yelled at. I go back downstairs to get my stuff, and I ask him if he could at least refund me one of the nights. He again continues to laugh in my face and is refuses to help me out. As I had no choice but to just walk away, he started swearing at me in Italian. At this point I'm not even sure if he has refunded me anything or has charged me twice. I told him that I will be talking to my credit card company because he cannot charge me twice.
Went to a hotel down the street, luckily they had one bed, except it was €90 euros for one night.
I felt so humiliated and disrespected by this organisation. For the sake of your sanity, DO...
Read moreI spent 2 nights at this hostel as a solo traveler on business. Wanting to save money on a long trip, I found its central location excellent—just a short walk from the main streets and markets. The staff is very nice, allowing me to check in 75 minutes before the scheduled time, that is, 1:45 pm. The facility is well-maintained and cleaned daily. However, it is a very small room, with a small closet for all 6 people and a single bathroom. It is tight, so you won’t gain the tiniest privacy of a curtain. The beds are small, too. Additionally, there is no designated space in the hostel itself for sitting, relaxing, cooking, or storing food in a fridge, as it resembles a large apartment converted into a hostel. With the coupon you received, you can enjoy breakfast at the adjacent restaurant, Le P’tit Bistr96, which includes a cup of coffee, a cup of juice, and a croissant of your choice, earning it a 2 out of 10 score. The other option is to add 6-10 euros for extra tasty food such as scrambled eggs. In the overpriced town of Sorrento, it’s a good option to save some cash (it cost me 30-40% less than most places), yet I couldn’t stay there more than 2 days, and I liked hostels.
