Ponticello Apartments — Hotel in Palermo

I spent countless hours researching apartments in Palermo after deciding an apartment was a better option for even a solo traveler. I opted for Ponticello because of the exceptional near-perfect reviews, the photos (accurate), the location for a first-time visitor traveling alone, security, size, comfort, elevator, street parking right in front and PRICE. Stop looking; if any of the apartments are available, book it. From the moment I arrived to the moment I departed, the staff was exceptionally kind, respectful, helpful and friendly. Cristina, the owner, and her team made me feel welcomed and appreciated. Chapaux! The apartment I I rented had two Juliet balconies, one of which overlooked the piazza where I parked my rental car & the best gelato shop in Palermo (Belli Freschi Gelato). I walked everywhere. I also found the neighborhood safe and (relatively clean;it's Palermo though). And yes, I'd stay here again. Book it.

There is a minor point of disappointment, insignificant, but yet important to me and maybe to a few others…I’ve submitted my suggestion to the owner. It’s just for your information if your goal, like mine, is PERFECTION:

There is a Nespresso machine but only ONE capsule is provided. Considering it’s a five-star (yes…that good) apartment, why not include a dozen. I had a hard time finding a nearby store where I could buy Lavazza coffee capsules. If only one pod will continue to be provided, please include this in the welcome letter; I would have brought my own pods. Having the coffee machine is appreciated, however. Just bring coffee pods.

The kitchen is fully equipped. I speak Italian but the TV has no English channels. However, you can connect it to YouTube & watch anything you want in any language. Having the clothes washer was wonderful (thank you).

Oh, and also bring toiletries. The apartment contains minuscule saches of bath gel (that serves as shampoo as well…horror!). Fortunately I always carry my own bar of soap. There are tiny little soap bars provided. My suggestion is that the owner should suggest that each tenant bring their own soap & hair products and that very small sample sized soaps & shower gel are meant to cover your arrival (and not your stay). You’ll need to go buy soaps, shower gel, shampoo/conditioner & body lotion. I ALMOST dropped my review to 4 stars but it’s such a minor item and everything else was so perfect, I just couldn’t.

Bottom line: it’s the perfect apartment but bring Nespresso pods, soap, shampoo, conditioner &...

This apartment in Palermo was the best. Tucked away from the action so it was quiet yet a few streets from all the action. The apartment was huge, spacious, ours had 3 juliet balconies, it was absolutely spotless, well-equipped, with everything we needed for a few nights stay. Both stairs and elevator as an option which was great with groceries in hand. It's brand new, and has super attentive staff. The bed and pillows were super comfortable and sheets were fabulous, shower pressure was fantastic. It's super modern. The location was perfect- short walk to the large market, and the 4 corners, shops, and restaurants, and 8 minute walk from the grocery store and 15 minute to the train station. The gal who helped us Christina was just a gem of a human, fabulous, responsive, and full of helpful tips and resto recommendations. There was no salt in our unit and they made an effort to go and get salt for us as we were cooking, something I didn't ask for but shows you how much they value their customers. Couldn't ask for anything more in Palermo. Cannot wait to return and wouldn't hesitate recommending Ponticello...

My stay at Ponticello Apartments was exceptional from the moment I made the booking until when I departed. The apartment was immaculate and centrally located making it a perfect respite from the August heat. Cristina was very helpful with her advice where to go and sights to see, also very responsive over WhatsApp when I needed assistance. Salam was also helpful for instructions when needed. As a solo traveller I felt very looked after and would rank this as one of the best accommodations I have stayed at....
