In general, I can’t recommend this hotel. Pros: Friendly front desk: Francesca - hotel manager - and the front desk staff were very friendly. They like to know when you’re arriving to ensure a very smooth check in. Their front desk closes at 9pm so they give you instructions for using the lockbox to check in - luckily we got there ahead of 9pm. Clean – no complaints here. Breakfast – a wide selection of cured meats, breads, eggs scrambled (albeit a bit runny), bacon, jams, baked treats, fresh fruits and cheese. They also have some juices, coffees and teas – coffees made to order. Modern/clean common spaces
Cons: Limited space: This hotel is essentially located on 2 floors of a historic building – pretty cool – but not a lot in terms of amenities. Not a lot of “hotel ground”: for me this was important due to a combined work/leisure trip so needed to work and take calls and was traveling w a friend who needed to do the same. MISLEADING PICTURES (Booked via hotel tonight): it looked as though the rooms were all double beds (twin beds combined to be a king). All the other hotels I booked through the app had similar pics and I had no problem getting the room set up in twin beds. This one was 1 king bed. This was a bit of a bummer as my friend and I find it easier to sleep w our own beds. It was even more rough due to the fact that: The A/C DID NOT WORK in our room (Room 110). Apparently the AC is “shared” with room 109 and a corridor. Needless to say, it didn’t get below 78 F (26 C) in our room. Even the AC monitor was located in the corridor outside our room – which was on max AC. I thought it was misleading to say this hotel has AC which can’t truly be controlled by the room occupant. Also, the AC not working made it worse. When I mentioned the AC disfunction to the hotel staff, I was offered a fan that didn’t work. The gal figured out a hack where if I stuck toothpick in the fan button, I could get the fan to stay on. The fan was mildly helpful... It was never offered to have a mechanic look at the AC situation to figure it out. Uncomfortable roll out bed – Upon request and on the last night, I was offered the roll out bed – it was pretty uncomfortable, but better than tossing and turning in the same bed. Very outdated decor in room. The pics on the hotel tonight app made it look way more new/modern, yet our room just looked extremely dated. Shower and sink area in particular were very run down, crusty and bit of mold.
I see all the reviews that are so positive. I think if the AC had worked and the bed situation was better, it would have been a much better experience. The purpose of a hotel was to have a cool/relaxing, comfortable, safe place to sleep and I just didn’t get the first two here. At the minimum, I take ownership for not calling ahead of time sooner for the bed set up, but the AC situation really made it...
Read moreI highly advise you not to stay at this hotel, as you will not be treated to a 5-star experience. You will not be treated to a 4-Star experience or even a 3-Star. Expect a 2-Star or 1-Star.||My family just completed a 3 night stay at what we hoped would be a fantastic finish to our first Italy vacation. We decided to splurge on 5-Star hotel (over 500 euros per night fee) in the center of Rome. The weather was exceptionally hot during our stay, which is important to call out. Let me explain why I advise you not to stay here - here's what we experienced:||1. Broken mini-refrigerator - didn't work at all. It was replaced after the second day and two complaints to the office.|2. Broken air conditioner - when I went down to the front desk on the first night, complaining how hot it was in our room and that the air conditioner wasn't working at all, the staff apologized and explained their was nothing they could do until the next day when they could call a repairman. No one came to repair the A/C the next day, or the 3rd day. It was never fixed. No repair techs came. I found out the staff on duty wasn't authorized to call a repair tech. Their solution? They put two ground fans in the room. This is what I'd expect at a Motel 6, not a 5-Star Boutique hotel.|3. We booked the "family" room that offered two rooms. TVs in both rooms. The issue is both TVs are of the same brand and the walls are so thin, when you use a remote for one TV, it activates both TVs, but at different intervals, so they're not on the same channels. A staff member came up and explained we didn't know how to use the remote. And then he activated both TVs when trying to show us.|4. The was not manager on duty at all. No one to file a complaint with, or authorized to offer some form of compensation. Only apologies by college -student staff.|5. On the night before we checked out, we received a call from the front desk at 10pm, asking us if we could come down and pay our final bill before 11pm, as the staff that would be on duty in the morning was not experienced in checking guests out and didn't know how to, or was authorized to, process payments.....at a 5-Star hotel.||All the staff could do for us was explain they were sorry for everything. The older staff members that stood next to the front desk nodded their head with every complaint I made, and when I stated "When paying over 500 euros a night, I don't think I'm asking for too much to have the air conditioning work?" he nodded in agreement as if to say "yep, we've had complaints like this many times before".||You will not have a 5-star experience if you stay here. All you'll get is incompetence and apologies.||Apart from the location, there are literally no redeeming qualities of...
Read moreThis truly is an exceptional hotel and is a credit to it's new owners who have transformed the building into a chiq & unique place to stay, right in the heart of Rome.
We have just returned after a truly magical week's stay and I can honestly say, we have never stayed in such a well run and friendly hotel.
It's beautifully finished, the rooms are fabulous and the staff are the most attentive I have ever encountered in many, many years of travelling abroad.
From the minute you arrive to the minute you leave, nothing is too much trouble and all staff members from check in to the cleaner, all go way above the norm to make sure your stay is as comfortable and relaxing as possible.
The breakfasts are superb with a fantastic choice of eggs, bread, croissants, fruit and probably the best coffee in Rome!!
Julia looked after us in the restaurant most mornings. Her cheerful, happy and helpful disposition always set us up for a great day.
Ashik looked after us on the roof terrace for afternoon and evening drinks, such a lovely chap who's smile and warm demeanour really made the time go by so quickly.
Marika who was front of house was very friendly, polite and always had time for a chat to see how our stay was going.
The hotel is nestled just off the main road and is just minutes from the Trevi Fountain and The Pantheon. It is a fantastic location with many of the sights within walking distance and plenty of bars & restaurants on the doorstep.
We also booked a chauffeur service through the hotel to pick us up from Rome airport and drop us back, this also was fantastic and very well priced.
If I was a hotel inspector, I would give the hotel FIVE STARS, I really can't recommend it highly enough.
The question you always ask yourself when you've been away on holiday is would you stay again.
We didn't want to leave, it was that good and we'll definitely be returning very...
