DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE - so many better places in Rome you could enjoy a nice meal or drink. I was walking past and flagged down by the waiter asking if I wanted to sit. I had been keeping an eye out for somewhere to stop for an afternoon spritz so I thought why not. I said to him I’m only looking for a drink, he’s like fine no problem. I sit down and then friends for the table next to me arrive to meet and want my table, so given I was on my own I moved so the 4 could be together.

I understand they’d want to sit together so no issue I could sit at one of the other tables round the corner. Well that’s when it kicked off, the manager or head waiter was not happy I was being moved not happy I wasn’t eating. Another couple arrived they wanted to sit outside he told them my table would be free in 5 minutes- I hadn’t even ordered yet. Basically from the second I sat down I was made to feel unwelcome, an inconvenience and they were in a rush to get me off the table and were basically so rude. Never mind the fact I was a well dressed, female on her own - who was never going to sit for very long anyway. Never mind the fact that I’m meeting multiple friends arriving from tonight and we would have potentially gone back if it had not been such an awful experience. Two ladies next to me at the second table told me they had even ordered food and were being rushed off to leave. So if you are looking for somewhere where you can relax and enjoy your drink for 15-20 mins or meal for 30-60 mins, DO NOT GO HERE. The cocktail was pretty crap anyway. There are so many other places where you could have an enjoyable experience whilst you are on holidays, don’t waste your time...

We decided to stop in here at lunchtime for a couple of lemonades and sparkling water after getting hounded by their staff outside to sit down. The place was empty (red flag #1) and the waiter was rushing us to order food (red flag #2 considering we didn’t see any other customers)

I scanned the menu and already knew what we’d order and knew how much we expected to pay. We finished our drinks quickly and asked for the bill. The total? €27. 2 x waters and 2 x lemonades that should have come to around €12.

They tried to charge €2 per person service charge which is a bit rich considering we were the only persons there. When my wife gently questioned the bill, the waiter got very rude and defensive and honestly, became very intimidating. The last part of his exchange lead directly to this review.

I think it’s fair to warn others who might have the foresight to google a place before they walk blindly in. Or at least that’s my hope, because they will rob you blind.

This place is right beside a few touristic hot spots and there is a lot of footfall tourist-wise so naturally tourists are preyed on. Avoid if you can but if you can’t, and get a bad experience like we did then please add a review on Google like a...

First off Il Miraggio getting a 3.9 is bogus!!! This out of the way quiet establishment is more like a 5 star! You first have to pass a restaurant that’s extremely busy bc people are probably starving and are too lazy to go a little further in. From Il Miraggio I’ve watched (at the other restaurant) people eating so fast and leaving. Definitely not Europeans but a touristy place. If people walked a little further in they’d find a restaurant on a quiet street where you’d find a great place to eat, people watch, eat a great meal or have a glass of wine. You’d want to take your time. The food is well prepared and very good! The staff is genuinely attentive and nice! My husband and I will always go to Il Miraggio when in Rome. I’ve recommended this restaurant to family and friends bc that’s how much I’ve enjoyed it. We gone for lunch, dinner or just stop for a cocktail or house wine with maybe an app or pizza. Again everything is pretty delicious. Anybody giving this restaurant a low grade is usually one with no palette. Sorry it...

This is one of the many street cafes near the Trevi fountain. All of these places are just about the same geared towards hungry tourists. The staff was very friendly and it's just outside of the busy main area so it was pretty quiet. The food was good, but not spectacular. We both enjoyed our meals. I had the seafood risotto, which I felt needed a touch more salt, but loaded with seafood. I also thought the risotto would be creamier, but everything thing in Rome has been al dente. Their house "bread" more like a cracker was very good, but it is an additional charge. My wife had the fettuccine Bolognese also al dente. She liked it, but I found it to be too sweet and not meaty enough. The dessert, creme catalana, was the best part of the meal. That was delicious and a perfect portion for us to share a little something sweet at the end of the meal. This place is NOT a must go to, but it wasn't super expensive and we left full.

Tucked away near the Trevi Fountain the "Senza Glutine" sign which included the word Tiramisu caught our eye and then a very friendly waiter did! So we stopped and thoroughly enjoyed Spaghetti Carbonara, Cacio è Pepe, and then Tiramisu, a desert that is "ours" like others have a song. And it was lovely! And I will sing the praises of this lovely little restaurant. Not particularly cheap but who expects cheap 5 minutes from the Trevi - seriously, but not outrageously expensive either! The food was excellent, the service friendly, the passing duo with electric piano and accordion left us feeling like we were Lady and the Tramp, Highly recommend!

Not sure why people are leaving this place mediocre or bad reviews. From the moment we walked down the alley from the Trevi Fountain to the time we left, we had an enjoyable and delicious time. Our waiter Jonas (not sure it's spelled that way) recommended some of the best meals and desserts. (The pistacchio dessert was to die for) but he also was so personable and friendly. We got the carbonara, the fettuccine porcini, and anchovie pizza. We also got drinks and different desserts and enjoyed it all. We recommend this place for lunch or dinner and hope you are served by Jonas!
