I visited Trinity College Pub twice during my trip to Rome. The first time was pleasant, which made us come back. However, our second visit turned into a very unpleasant and disrespectful experience.
When we sat outside and wanted to order, a waiter with a rude attitude told us that if we wanted to pay separately, we had to go inside and order ourselves – which contradicted what we had been told during our previous visit.
Later, my female friend and I went to the downstairs restroom, each of us using a separate stall. While we were inside, someone knocked on our doors and we replied that they were occupied. While we were washing our hands, someone started aggressively banging on the main restroom door. Thinking something serious had happened, I opened the door – only to be yelled at in Italian by a staff member.
When I asked him to speak in English because we didn’t understand Italian, he accused us of locking the main restroom door – which we absolutely hadn’t. We were inside separate stalls, and the main door was clearly open since our individual doors had been knocked on. We tried to explain this, but he continued acting hostile.
One of the women who had knocked earlier actually tried to calm the situation and told him in Italian that everything was fine. Despite this, the waiter insisted, saying, “I don’t care – I received a complaint.”
He then escorted us back upstairs to our table and said, “Okay, now get up and leave. We won’t serve you anymore.”
I was shocked and tried to explain the situation to the bartender inside, but no one seemed to care or listen.
This was one of the worst hospitality experiences I’ve ever had. I hope the management seriously looks into this. Travelers deserve respectful and clear communication, not aggression and...
Read moreI couldn't give 0 stars... we reserved well in advance to watch the football game at 9pm. The girl who took us upstairs had zero idea of anything... we said specifically in our reservation for 7pm that we were there to watch the game at 9pm. She placed us right underneath the TV... btw... this place only has 2 tv's. One upstairs and one down. I said to her that it's not going to work because as specified, we're here to watch the game. There was a perfect table available but she said she couldn't put us there. She went downstairs to talk to her manager. We stood there for about 10 minutes wondering what was going on. I finally went downstairs to ask and she still hadn't spoken to the manager. I asked to speak to him. He put us at a table that was right in the way of the serving staff as well as people hovering around the bar. No apologies, just told us to sit there. A bunch of people walked in and of course blocked our view for multiple minutes. I complained again.... the manager basically told me to screw off. Never have I seen such an unorganized restaurant.... AVOID AT ALL COST!! Super rude and most staff has no idea...
