Le Locanda del Tempo - A Disappointing Experience
I recently had an unfortunate experience at Le Locanda del Tempo that I feel compelled to share. What started as a potentially pleasant family dinner quickly turned into an uncomfortable and disappointing encounter.
My family and I were approached by a street promoter who promised authentic Italian cuisine, and we decided to give it a try. While they did accommodate us with a table, the service that followed was far from satisfactory.
When ordering, I requested a standard imperial pint (425ml) of beer. The waiter's response was immediately off-putting when he mockingly asked if I was "sure" and made a comment about it being "for brave men" - an unnecessary remark that should have been my first warning.
Instead of bringing what I ordered, the waiter delivered a massive 1-liter beer. When I politely explained the mistake and requested the correct size, things escalated inappropriately. Rather than apologizing for the misunderstanding, the waiter became confrontational, recounting the entire conversation and placing blame on me.
The situation reached an unacceptable point when the waiter physically leaned over me, placed both hands on our table, and demanded, "What am I going to do with the remaining beer? You have to pay for this!" This intimidating behavior completely crossed the line of professional service.
At this point, we decided to leave. I paid for the unwanted beer but canceled our dinner order - no meal is worth that kind of treatment.
I would caution potential diners not to be misled by the street promoters. This establishment appears to be a tourist trap rather than an authentic Italian restaurant. The staff seemed more interested in upselling and intimidating customers than providing genuine hospitality or traditional cuisine.
There are many wonderful dining options in the area that offer both authentic food and respectful service. Unfortunately, Le Locanda del Tempo is not one of...
Read moreI was very excited to go here as most of the reviews were positive.the service was good and the atmosphere lovely.
The majority of the food was amazing … Unfortunately, the salmon that I was very much looking forward to, was so over done I found it more than disappointing and didn’t not want to eat more than a few bites. Told the waiters on 3 occasions that the Salomon was over cooked. One asked me if I wanted the salmon well done … which was never asked!! And I for one would have welcomed it as rare! We asked if anything could be done … with no response! I asked for some pana cotta for dessert. And was brought a bag and the check. Assumed the Pana cotta was being given as take out. Upon reviewing the bill … I saw no pana cotta but was charged 20 euros for the over cooked Salmon. I spoke with the cashier/maitre de and he went to the back to check it … he assured me that he loved salmon cooked to the point it was rubbery and dry! I was very disappointed that he had no remedy except to send me home with food I’d never eat! I paid for my check in full and left it sitting for him to eat if he enjoyed over cooked barely eaten food! Make sure if you go there … you get what...
Read moreThis place was recommended to me by a friend who lives near Rome and always dines there when she visits the downtown area. This cute restaurant is located super close to the Trevi Fountain and other central areas, and is an excellent choice for locals as well as tourists. Everything is made from scratch with local ingredients and it is the best place to experience the authentic Roman cuisine while being in the heart of Rome. Food was amazing, best one I’ve had in Rome and best Pasta alla gricia with truffle I’ve ever had (highly recommend)! Also amazing appetizers, second courses and desserts. My family was visiting Rome for the first time from the USA and they were super impressed with the food and the friendly staff. The restaurant owner stops by the table and personally ensures that the customers are satisfied with their food. She is happy to give recommendations and explain menu items, which we all appreciated. On the menu, they also have a QR code to their Instagram page (check it out!) with pictures and videos of all their food items, which was super helpful for those who didn’t know what those dishes were. Will definitely dine there again every time...
