Excellent locationMonument Victor Emmanuel II few meters away within short walk: Trevi fountain, Pantheon & Colosseum Images taken from Monument & Hotel is building next to terracotta coloured building. restaurant below the hotel & to the side Cheeses cold meat salad chopped pancakes cakes biscuits pastries yogurt bread rolls & cereals. There is also a warm section serving fried eggs, omelet slices, scrambled eggs, streaky bacon & chopped frankfurter. Room was excellent, super comfortable bed, large desk, mirror door full height wardrobe, safe, mini fridge, plenty of space. The shower room was also spacious, I was on the 4th floor & the water pressure was lower than I prefer, but understandably. The best door entry operation I've ever encountered especially welcome if your hands are full etc. Reception were very considerate when I arrived & realised I had a mobility scooter & quickly changed the room allocated to provide one without steps along the corridor. There are lifts to ea floor, apart from 5th floor terrace, but on some floors there are also differences in heights navigated via steps or near my room a ramp. The reception staff were extremely helpful. The was probably the cleaness hotel I've ever stayed in. Even fire extinguishers were dust free. My room & infact every where was cleaned well, along with the often missed corners & carpet edges. The staff couldn't have done more to ensure a pleasant stay. I use a mobility scooter & when the staff saw me return they would come down & either hold the door or offer to help with the scooter. One of the receptionist mentioned that he had bought to his managers attention that the little step, about 4cm high, would be helpful if it was ramped. All staff were very considerate, friendly & willing to help. I observed the same treatment to other guests. If I return to Rome I would definitely stay...
Read moreI really wanted to like this hotel. It is most certainly not a 4 star hotel |There is nothing special that makes it stand out other than its location. But the trade off for that is the noise. They claim to have soundproof windows, but the noise level is constant, extremely loud and unbearable. Not only are the windows not soundproof, it’s so loud that it feels like the windows are actually open…and we were on the 3rd floor! And it’s all night long…even until 3-5am when it starts all over again. It’s blaring horns, police sirens and people hollering all night long. If you need your sleep, you definitely don’t want to stay here.|We stayed in a Quad room because we were traveling with our parents. The shower just has a light frosting which is right next to the bed on the other side, so you can clearly see the person nude in the shower. I asked for couple of pieces of tape to hang up a towel, and the gentleman at the front desk at the time, was not only dismissive and said they don’t have tape, but he basically said I was being ridiculous and he’s never heard any complaints before. Maybe it’s a normal European thing, but essentially showering in front of my father was not normal to me!|The bathroom for the breakfast room was pretty gross…you basically had to climb over the toilet to get in and out of the stall. And there were no toilet seats for the ladies room. Again, maybe this is a common European thing, but for a 4 star hotel, I found it unacceptable.|The only saving grace of our 3 night stay was a different front desk gentleman…David and Adriana. They were so kind, so empathetic, and so very helpful during a couple urgent situations. They are the only reason I have anything positive to say about the hotel.|I rarely write reviews and am not really difficult to please, but I wanted to share my experience in case these issue would be...
Read moreOn the plus side, it’s very central so is convenient for tourist visits but it all felt very impersonal and not really like a a hotel - perhaps more of a hostel feel.||The hotel was hard to locate for both us and the taxi driver. Apart from the name etched on a narrow glass door (between 2 cafes) you wouldn’t know it was there. It really needs a sign hanging outside. The entrance was further obscured by scaffolding.|Access is up a narrow corridor to the reception where there is a lift to your room, and that’s it really. All very impersonal.||There is a breakfast room and the breakfasts started off ok but for most of the stay the hot food was lukewarm at best. None of the lids over the food trays were hinged so fell off all the time. Coffee had to be ordered from the waiters and didn’t always arrive.||The building feels like it needs some love and attention. Stepping out of the lift there was a large damp patch in the ceiling where water came through the roof in the corridor outside the bedroom||The glass shower door was detached from its runner and fell onto my husband who was stuck in the shower holding it off him the first time we used it! ||The light in the shower didn’t work (fixed) although the 2 lights in the bedroom were flickering and intermittent throughout our stay.||The wardrobe has a weird mirror thing which makes it look like extra wardrobe space, but isn’t. Both of us walked into it upon arrival!||There was no mattress protector on the bed. I found a dirty old sock from a previous visitor on one of the clothes shelf. ||The bottled water in the room is charged for although there is no notice to say this. In fact, there was no guest information in the room at all. It just didn’t feel very professional and we were...
