After staying here, my partner and I don’t understand how this place has so many good reviews. The location is convenient, but that’s the only positive. Check-in was disorganized—no one was at the desk, and we had to call for entrance codes and find our room key left unattended. The boutique is on the second floor of a dim, almost abandoned-feeling building, with no working lights in the hallway, forcing us to use our phone flashlights just to reach the room. Inside, the amenities were underwhelming: two tiny bottles of shampoo, no conditioner, and odd communication with staff. For example, when we requested no room service, we were told it wasn’t possible because no one would be around to tell cleaning staff. The real problem came on our second day. The front desk attendant texted that we had to meet her during her limited hours to pay, cutting into our sightseeing. She told us the city tax (€40) had to be paid in cash and claimed we’d made a mistake with the reservation, so we’d need to pay an additional €25 per night for a second guest—also in cash. She even asked if we could cover the entire reservation in cash. When we refused, she became short with us and insisted the extra charges and city tax must be cash only and could not be charged to the card on file. We later confirmed with Hotels.com and researched that Italian law requires businesses to accept card payments (when card payment is available) and that we couldn’t be forced to pay in cash. Only after we pushed back and explained the high ATM fees and currency conversion costs did she reluctantly accept card payment, but not before telling us it was the “owner’s preference” to take cash and that they were making an exception for us. Between the unsettling building, poor amenities, disorganized service, and illegal pressure for cash payments, we felt taken advantage of. We would not recommend...

Read moreBooked a twin room for my family, two adults and a child for four nights. The hotel gave us a room with a double bed only. We understand mistakes happen, but when we asked whether our original room was available or if we could be provided a cot or trundle bed for our daughter, we were advised they don't offer these. They told us there were no alternative rooms or beds, and offered us two cushions so our daughter could sleep on the floor - laughable. We ended up having to book a different hotel so that we would have somewhere to sleep. Two days later, they contacted us and offered a different room. They then used this completely redundant offer as justification to refuse any refund or compensation. We ended up staying at Hotel Stendhal around the corner, which was much better. Larger room, better air conditioning, 24 hour reception, and exactly the same price. And they had cots and fold out beds available, as every hotel should. Other criticisms of Soha Piazza di Spagna Boutique are that the rooms are the smallest we have ever seen (barely a metre clearance around the bed), the fridge doesn't work, the air-conditioning barely makes the room any cooler, there is never anybody at the reception desk, and the lift is so small you have to go one person at a time. Please do not give this hotel...
