Hotel King, Rome||Hotel King in Rome offers a well-located accommodation option for visitors looking to explore the city’s central attractions. I stayed at this hotel for two nights over a rugby weekend while visiting to watch a game. Despite initial apprehension due to mixed reviews, my stay was largely positive, with the hotel exceeding my expectations in several aspects.||One of the strongest aspects of Hotel King is its location. It is conveniently situated near a metro station, just two stops from the main train station, making transportation easy. Additionally, the hotel is very close to the Spanish Steps and within walking distance of several small restaurants and shops, making it a practical choice for tourists looking to explore Rome’s landmarks.||I booked two rooms for a group of four and was allocated a room on the third floor—although the floor itself was higher than a typical third story. The rooms appeared to have been recently refurbished, with a modern and clean design. My room featured a shared balcony that extended along the length of the building, adding to the overall charm of the stay.||While the room was new and well-maintained, it was somewhat minimalist in decor. The high ceilings created an echoing effect, which might be a concern for light sleepers. Additionally, the bedding was quite basic, consisting of a thin sheet and a thin duvet. During the night, I found the room slightly cold, as I preferred not to use the air conditioning, and there were limited extra bed coverings available.||The breakfast provided at the hotel was satisfactory but basic, with no particularly standout offerings. It was adequate for a quick start to the day but not a highlight of the stay.||Despite initial concerns, my stay at Hotel King was enjoyable. Staff were very kind and helpful, especially at reception on check in. The location was excellent, the rooms were newly refurbished, and the shared balcony was a nice touch. While the room’s minimalist design, echoing acoustics, and limited bedding were minor drawbacks, they did not significantly impact my overall experience. For visitors looking for a well-placed, clean, and comfortable stay in Rome, Hotel King is a...
Read moreI want to be as transparent and open-minded as possible. Initially, I had booked Hotel Sistina highly recommended to me for my needs. A few days after booking I was notified that the room booked was no longer available. I was asked to book at another hotel. I asked your staff to take care of this, to find a similar hotel with the same service and they did.I had booked Hotel Sistina as they had meeting rooms, lounge and bar area, and different amenities.Your staff booked me at Hotel King, for 4 nights. Though the Hotel was close to the destination and centrally located in no way did the Hotel meet my simplest needs. It had no lounge area, no bar, I could not meet my clients as I had anticipated, therefore had to change my meetings to elsewhere as I had trouble walking this was a total disaster and disappointment. The Hotel, better to say a B&B. Had no TV in the room, the bed was uncomfortable, no lounge area for meetings, no bar service, very limited continental breakfast, and paper-thin walls, you could hear people speaking, coughing, and talking on their mobiles, Flushing toilets and shower water running during the night. Room service left a lot to be desired. The beds were made, that’s about all, the coffee table cups were never washed, nor were the coffee or tea capsules replaced, had to ask the front desk to get new ones. The situation was so noisy and uncomfortable that I only stayed 3 nights, I preferred to pack my bags and lose the payment for the last night. The convenience was the location, centrally located. The staff at the front desk was polite and did their best to accommodate me but they understood the situation. What was surprising was that the Hotel Sistina, that I had booked and received confirmation about, was only two doors away but has been closed for the last 6 months as it is totally under rehab construction, why did Trip.com not know about this?????Next time I’ll...
Read moreDo not stay at this hotel unless you want to get your money STOLEN by the front desk receptionist, a sagging hard mattress, and hear all your neighbors talk, walk down the hallway, use the hair dryer, and flush toilets.
I was shocked that I got scammed by the receptionist using the oldest trick in the book: ask for money in different amounts until you get confused and walk away with less money. I gave her €50 euro so I could break my bill since my hotel city tax was €12. She asked me for €2 so she could give me €30 back. Then she asked me for €10 and I gave her €10 and then she took my €50 and gave me €30.
I was so confused by the whole transaction that I walked out after the checkout. Then I realized she SWINDLED me and I walked back inside and asked her for my money back. She counted her drawer and said "oh, I need to give you back €10" and handed me €10.
But wait. I'm still missing €10 from my original €50. I ask her again and said that she only gave me €30 and even with the €10 she gave "back" to me, it was still only €40. She makes a big show to count the drawer again in front of me and said she gave me back €40 the first time, but I clearly remember her saying €30 but at that point I'm starting to doubt my memory and I was already running late for a prepaid ticket reservation so I grungingly left.
Don't make my mistake and get TRICKED at a hotel and scammed out of your money. I'm shocked and appalled that the hotel would risk their reputation and risk losing business over €10-20 of extra city tax cash in their pockets from unsuspecting and trusting tourists.
Absolutely disgusting and devious behavior since it's handling cash and no proof of the money that was exchanged between us. Never book...
