Our stay at Ca'Angeli was pretty nice! I'll start with the positives first! The breakfast and the breakfast room were absolutely lovely! We even had an early morning start one of our days and they made us a breakfast bag to go so that we didn't miss a breakfast! They were also able to accommodate for my gluten allergy. They were very nice about that.||The location is pretty nice as well. Right near the Rialto bridge and not too far of a walk to the train station. ||The building itself is interesting. It's a shared building so not completely owned by the hotel, but I think that may be normal in Italy? ||The few negatives: We had also booked a double superior with the promise of a view. I think we may have been confused by the website photos because we were expecting a room with canal view/ or partial view? and our room had no view to speak of. And worse was that construction was going on the building across the way and was VERY LOUD and workers right outside our window. Didnt want to leave window open or workers could see right in. Luckily we had an early morning one morning and then our other days were weekend days so no work was being done on those days, but if we had been staying on more weekdays I would have been so upset. We even asked to change room but were denied by the temporary staff. We would have asked one of the owners but it was hit or miss on when they would be there and the temporary staff didn't seem to know what to do to placate the situation. ||I think a heads up or a slight discount would have been nice due to the construction and the lack of view which we had...
Read moreI love small private hotels with character and I love a good view and this fulfills all those criteria . Stayed here before about 10 years ago, same top floor room and same warm welcome. ||Glad of the air conditioning on this very hot weekend and we appreciated the gesture of a complimentary bottle of Prosecco. ||Nice breakfasts in a characterful room also overlooking the canal. All my favourite breakfast goodies such as fruit and yoghurt, granola, seeds then a tasty selection of meats cheese and tomato. ||The only disappointment was the ‘hot water’ in the big silver urn wasn’t really hot enough to make English tea but this was soon rectified and the freshly squeezed orange juice was so tasty it made up for the tea! ||An added source of interest was the fact that unbeknown to us the Bezos wedding party were staying next door so we watched the paps and security buzzing g around indicating an appearance and wandered down to the jetty to wave as the happy couple went by in the Aman private boat. | |This hotel is in a great location for exploring Venice on foot or by vaparetto. It’s only about 15 mins to st Marks square and the osterias in San Polo are in my view far better than round the busy tourist areas...
Read moreWhat an amazing location in Venice!||We [family of 3] drove into Venice from Tuscany, and dropped off our hire car and where at the boat taxi in minutes; 10 minutes through the canals to these central but angelically quite location; It has real history!||Standard italian fare for breakfast, high quality continental.|We ate out nearby, every other night.||We walked in and out of Venice daily.||Be mindful if you book a direct deal its CASH only, otherwise count on paying another 100 euros.||To mirror other reviews, I'm not going to repeat all the good things about this lovely establishment and the staff but every word is true. Our very first visit to Venice made us look for somewhere very special and this is the place. It is wonderful in all respects; the dock is not directly on the property, it just to the right, but it changes nothing of the charm and...
