During the walk from St. Mark's Square to the Academy Bridge, we pass this beautiful square. This elongated square is one of the most elegant in Venice. Campo Santo Stefano or Campo Morosini is one of the largest fields in Venice. It is surrounded by beautiful churches and palaces such as the church of Santo Stefano, the church of San Vidal, Palazzo Morosini, Palazzo Loredan and Palazzo Pisani and the adjacent Campiello Pisani. It is a favorite gathering place of locals and guests, sometimes concerts, Christmas and other fairs are held on this square. And it is certainly very interesting to walk here during the Carnival. In the center of the field stands the statue of the writer Niccolò Tommaseo, the work of Francesco Barzaghi from 1882. The pleasant atmosphere is complemented by coffee bars, patisseries and restaurants such as "Ristorante Pizzeria Santo Stefano", Ristorante "Le Café", Ristorante " A Beccafico ", Ristorante / Bar" Art Blue Café ", Osteria" Ethnos ", Osteria" Doge Morosini ", Gelateria" Paolin "and on the corner and opposite the church the popular Bar" all'Angolo ". Right behind the “Art Blue Cafe” and Palazzo Morosini Gatterburg is the far-famed Venetian Music Conservatory of Music Benedetto Marcello. Every time we pass there we hear good music spreading towards the square from the building. It is interesting and good to know that the Church of San Vidal is a place where classical music concerts of the famous Rondo Veneziano are held. The pride of the church is its very fine Gothic portal, created in 1442 by Bartolomeo Bon. The interior is decorated with ingenious works...
Read moreMy friend and I were extremely excited for our first day in Venice and wanted to start it off with a pizza. We trusted this place as there was heaps of people eating there. However, we were very disappointed as we had to wait AN HOUR for our food to come out (even though the people who were next to us ordered after us and got their meals within 10 minutes). My friend and I became very clearly aggravated by this and the waiters could tell so quickly followed up with our order. After our meal we were appalled at the service (no one at all apologised for the wait time) and didn’t think it was right that we should be expected to pay the service fee which they include on every bill. When we told them we weren’t happy with the wait time, the manager/owner became very aggressive and said that he didn’t know what happened and that the waiter ‘must’ve lost our order’ (he was our waiter). Even though this could’ve been true, we received no apology or ‘service’ at all really and left having a slight discount on the service fee and nothing else. Am extremely disappointed and disheartened and our first day started off terribly because of this restaurant. I do not...
Read moreNot only was the food terrible, but the owner/manager was aggressive towards me and my wife. When the wrong order arrived at the table and I challenged the waiter over it, the owner told me to be quiet so he could discuss the issue with the waiter. I told him not to disrespect me and we left the restaurant. On doing so, he started to grab at my wife's sweatshirt which she was holding in an attempt to retrieve it. He was unsuccessful.
I demanded that he called the police because of the issue we had with him. Rather than having a fight with him, I paid him 10euros for the starter and we left the restaurant. Never again will we step foot in this so called establishment. The so called owner is pictured...
