Beautiful hotel and grounds. Rooms are large and generally with great views of the water. The hotel is located on an island that is about a 15 min boat ride to St Marks square. The hotel has a free shuttle boat that runs continoulsy between the hotel and the square which is very convienent. There were only 2 negatives: first is the table service at the restaurants is slow. We went to breakfast at 840am an we had a 930 water Taxi reservation. They have a breakfast buffet except you have to order eggs from the waiter. We did that right away even before we sat down at our table. Twenty-five minutes later we flagged the waiter and told him we 15 minutes before our water Taxi appointment. 7 minutes later we again reminded the waiter we now had 8 mintues before we had to leave. The eggs finally showed up at 9:27. We had 2 minutes eat our breakfast. The waiter mumbled something about the kitchen being busy but we watched others come, be seated, get their order, finish their breakfast, and leave while we waited for our egg order. Just be forewarned, if you are on a tight schedule, allow time for the poor table service.
The second neagative are the prices charged for dinner. House white wine was 22 euros per glass and it was only OK wine. Beer is 12 euro per glass for a local Italian beer. Mixed drinks run around 18-22 euros. The starter platters ran around 22-34 euros and the second platters ran around 26-40 euros. Dinnèr for 1 with an appetizer, staryet plate and second plate with a couple of glasses of house wine will run...
Read moreAbsolutely stunning hotel. One of the best hotels I have been to. From the charming and classy rooms, to the extremely attentive staff, the belmond cipriani hotel was a 10 out of 10! I would stay there over the Aman or any other hotel in the area.
Their breakfast was out of this world. Make sure to go to breakfast. The spread is incredible. They have such good food and it’s a very large buffet. The best and most elegant I have seen.
The staff was fantastic. Always remembered us and took care of our needs. My wife dropped her phone in the canals and the staff made sure to find a diver and get the phone back (and it still works after being under water for hours). Roberto was especially attentive to us with this process and i can’t remember the other members of the staff, but they were all so friendly and helpful.
The location: while some may fear it’s not in the main area, They have a boat that goes to and from saint Marco square every 10-15 minutes. It was fantastic and so convenient.
The bar by the pool was really really nice and charming. The staff was fantastic and the drinks were so good. The bar was so classy. We only tried some the the small bites at the bar area and they were fantastic. Sadly, we did not eat dinner at the restaurant CHIPS. But based on the breakfast spread, I’m sure it is a fantastic restaurant.
I highly recommend this belmond hotel over any hotel in venice (and one of the best hotels I’ve been to while traveling — better than other belmond’s I’ve...
Read moreWe had seriously considered staying at the Cipriani Hotel on a future trip to Venice, but our experience at its restaurant, Cip’s Club, changed our minds entirely.
Earlier that day, Cipriani informed the hotel we were staying at about a pants-only dress code for dinner. Unfortunately, our hotel failed to tell us. When we arrived dressed in polo shirts and linen shorts—respectable for the extreme heat—we were met with rudeness and condescension by the host (possibly the manager). Instead of handling the situation with understanding, he blamed our hotel and dismissed any responsibility.
This is exactly the problem: a hotel that positions itself as world-class should not rely on third parties to communicate critical policies. If you’re serious about five-star service, you don’t offload key guest expectations and then wash your hands of the consequences.
After pleading due to our flight later that night, we were seated far from the dining area near the kitchen, without a dedicated waiter—despite a reservation made over a month in advance. While the food was very good and the waitstaff kind, the hospitality and guest treatment were far from what a Cipriani-branded property should deliver.
True luxury means accountability, grace, and professionalism. Unfortunately, none of that was present here. We won’t be staying at Cipriani...
