OMG this place was horrible. We had reservations for this place on 9/27/2022 for dinner and out of all the Italian restaurants we reserved to eat at in Venice, we thought this was going to be the best and it was I'm sorry to say, disgusting. The only good thing was the wine. It started with some bread that seemed to be stale and rock hard. They then served it with some kind of pea puree for dipping, which had zero taste. We then ordered the Red turnip ravioli stuffed with pecorino cheese, porcini mushrooms and nasturtium. This just tasted like cheese and felt like nothing was fresh. We also ordered the Cress macaroni pasta with ragout of mantis shrimps, fennel and crustacean oil. The pasta tasted really over, and overall it had no flavor. It literally just tasted like a celery pasta stew with some very over done shrimps. We ended canceling our last course as it was such a disappointment and we made our way to Ristorante La Piazza, which saved the night. I don't know if we just ordered the wrong dishes but I'm surprised what we even had was...
Read moreIn season I can imagine that this is a lovely place to visit and sit on the terrace. However we visited on a quiet Sunday night in March, we ate inside and were not that impressed. The bread wasn’t particularly special and was a little stale which is always a bad sign in an expensive restaurant. The food is okay - nothing really special. My meat was overcooked and a little dry. We skipped dessert but were given some homemade biscuits which were very nice. The staff were polite at the table, but spent some time gossiping at the front desk which isn’t ideal in a quiet restaurant. Although there was only one other couple in the restaurant they were given a seat right next to the toilet which I think was a little disrespectful to them. The automatic addition of a service charge to the bill, which isn’t listed on the menu, isn’t great - and I’m not sure it’s even legal in Italy. If it’s a nice evening and you’d like to sit outside then this place might be better than some of the tourist traps out there. Otherwise I’d suggest...
Read moreExquisite flavors, great presentation and wonderful service. Fine dining over the water with some great views of Canale della Giudecca, S.Giorgio Maggiore, and beyond. Fantastic wine list though definitely on the expensive side - so you have to look for something in your budget. Wines seemed to start at around 100 Euro right the way to 4,000+, but not the common wines you might find in a typical Venetian tourist restaurant. Food prices were about the same. Many couples seemed to be drinking just water so don't feel you have to order an expensive bottle of wine though we ordered a 100 Euro Amaretto and thoroughly enjoyed it.
We dined after sundown in mid April and it got cold towards the end of dinner. Probably not a concern for the summer but worth bearing in mind. Staff were great and brought warm blankets for us so as not to spoil the experience. Had a nice walk back to the Grand Canal after dinner to take a vaporetto home, though we probably could have taken a water taxi had we thought about...
