Residence La Fenice — Hotel in Venice

We were really happy with our stay here. We got one of the smaller, if not smallest, rooms. It was pretty standard for a 2 person room. Had a small fridge to keep drinks cold. There is no receptionist on site, however they have a sister hotel 8 minutes away with 24 hour reception where you can store luggage. We did take advantage of the luggage storage botj before check-in and after check-out. If you want a 24hr reception or the ease of doing luggage storage in the same building, then this isn't the place for you. The room we had was on the 3rd floor, (4th by American standards) and no lift, so keep that in mind when considering this hotel. We did have an issue with the AC, but Lara came right over from the sister hotel and got it working again. She was ready to move us to another room if she was unable to resolve the problem, and even after it started working, she still offered to move us if we didn't feel satisfied. Sometimes issues come up, but its the way they're handled that really impacts how the stay is. Based on how efficiently and empathetically Lara handled the issue, we were both really happy. While the room was good, the bathroom left something to be desired. The shower is very small and didn't drain well, resulting in the need to turn the water off intermittently throughout the shower. There is no shower caddy or shelf in the shower, so toiletries had to sit on the ground. Over the sink, there is a small glass shelf that doesn't sit flat, resulting in most things sliding right off and the sink doesn't have much of a lip to it so space to store additional toiletries is limited. With that said, these were small inconveniences that didn't leave any negative impression. I wouldn't hesitate to book here again and would highly recommend...

Positives: The apartments are quite nicely decorated and are in a good location. There is a nice restaurant just downstairs. ||||Negatives: ||1. Staff are rarely there and are unapproachable and unhelpful. ||2. They advertise on booking.com that they provide a welcome basket - they did not!!||3. They advertise that each apartment has a washing machine. They do not!! They had one communal washing machine for all apartments located in a locked room off the courtyard and it was out of order - hopeless!||4. We booked and paid for a 3 bedroom apartment. When we arrived they put us in a two bedroom apartment and would not refund the difference which would have been in excess of EUR200 for our 3 night stay - so disappointing||5. They said the 3 bedroom apartment had a faulty boiler but someone moved into the 3 bed apartment the next day so they would have received the 3 bedroom rate twice - so dodgy||6. Kitchen amenities are very basic so don't plan on cooking - eg no lids for saucepans, no toaster, no sharp knives etc||7. Main Bedroom is very stylish but bed quite firm||8. Two bathrooms, one with bath and other with a very, very, very small shower||9. Apartment is a bit tricky to locate. Don't bother trying just book somewhere else.....we wish we had!||||We travelled around Italy for a month and this was the most disappointing accommodation choice throughout all our travels....

We stayed for a couple of nights at a 2 bedroom apartment at the Residence La Venice. Residence La Venice’s location is absolutely perfect - it is within 5 minutes walk to Pizzale San Marco, and right next to a couple of good restaurants (next to La Fenice Theatre). And yet we found that unlike other streets close to Pizzale San Marco, our street wasn’t packed full of tourists streaming past. ||We booked a private water taxi to take us from San Marco Airport straight to Residence La Venice, and it was the best way to travel with all our luggage, as the water taxi took us right next to Residence La Venice and provided us with assistance with our luggage as well.||One bedroom has its own ensuite on the lower floor, and the other bedroom is upstairs in the attic - old but charming. Altogether, the apartment has 2 bathrooms.||The apartment is air conditioned. The downstairs bedroom has its own conditioning. The upstairs bedroom in the attic has a older style air conditioner which is not so effective in the height of summer, so a fan has been provided as well. We found the upstairs bedroom slightly warm at night.||One thing to note: there is no elevator so you do have to carry your luggage up the stairs. (Not a problem for us.)||Wifi worked perfectly throughout our stay.||Overall, we loved our stay at Residence La Venice, and would definitely come...
