Forget "first" class, this place just has class. My favorite hotel of our tour in Italy. The front-desk staff is in striped trousers and formal coats. I'm checking in wearing jeans and hiking boots and there wasn't even a sniff of disapproval. The staff is professional, gracious and warm. They could not have been better.
The rooms were in immaculate condition. We were fortunate to get the 2nd story room on the front of the hotel with the long balcony. (Check the picture on Google maps.) The view of the Grand Canal is spectacular.
You're right next to a "bus" stop on the Grand Canal. Walking the neighborhood around to hotel is gorgeous. Shopping is just blocks away. You can see the oldest bridge across the Grand Canal from the hotel.
Did I mention Bobby (the bartender) makes a killer martini? He'll serve it to you outside on the front "porch" (if you can find a seat).
Photographers: You want my room. (216 I think.) You can't quite see the sunrise (in September) but you can the sunset and the light is gorgeous all day long, reflecting off the buildings across the canal. The balcony is narrow and cramped (not enough room for a spread-out tripod) but the view! The light! I spent all my free time photographing boats, gondolas, seagulls and the water. Always the gorgeous water reflecting every facet of light and life, right if front of the hotel.)
People that know me (and my photography) know I hate flat land and cities. I want mountains and empty spaces Yet Venice stole my heart. The Hotel Palazzo Sant'Angelo was a big part of that. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere...
Read moreOur stay at Sina Palazzo Sant’Angelo in Venice was truly memorable. The hotel’s location is perfect — directly on the Grand Canal with its own small courtyard and a vaporetto stop right in front. It made exploring the city extremely easy and enjoyable.||The interior is decorated in an elegant Venetian style, and our suite was comfortable, spacious, and very clean. We even received a complimentary upgrade, which was a thoughtful and generous gesture. The bathroom with marble finishings and the cozy sitting area added to the feeling of luxury.||Breakfast was included and offered a very nice variety, with fresh products and attentive service. It was a lovely way to start the day before heading out to discover Venice.||The only aspect we felt less comfortable with was the tipping policy: a fixed service charge of €45 was automatically added to the bill. While it could be changed upon request, it created a sense of pressure. In our opinion, tipping in Italy should remain a personal gesture of appreciation, not something preset like in the US.||Despite this, everything else about our stay was outstanding — the location, the atmosphere, the staff, and the overall experience. We would absolutely recommend Sina Palazzo Sant’Angelo for anyone wanting to enjoy Venice in style...
Read moreIn addition to being a PERFECT location the service at this hotel is perfection. We arrived on 8/31 for 2 nights and loved every second of our time. Every individual we encountered offered excellent service with a smile. We have nothing but compliments for the staff and amenities.||The location is amazing - literally feet from a water bus stop means you aren't dragging bags up and over bridges. While exploring the city we saw many weary travelers hauling bags up and down and over cobblestones...trust me when I tell you to stay here for that reason alone.||The hotel also has a dock so you can use a water taxi but the water bus made things so easy to move about and is a much less expensive option.||The hotel does offer a complimentary water taxi to Murano where we were met on the dock by a gentleman who walked us in to watch a glass artist and then we strolled through the gallery and were able to purchase a piece ($16k euros was out of our range). Items in the gift shop were more reasonable...once we finished, the water taxi took us back and dropped us at St Marks square. This was 100% complimentary...again, the service this hotel provides is amazing...
