Bacaro e Trattoria da Fiore — Restaurant in Venice

Really lovely meal, and friendly staff. While it may be a little more pricey than many places, it was worth every penny as the food was fantastic. Smaller portions, but just right! Would definitely recommend! Will be going back for lunch tomorrow... Edit came back for lunch the following day, (my wife who is 6 months pregnant was a very keen fan). I asked the staff if we could sit so my wife could sit while I joined the queue for chiccetti. While in the queue another customer asked to have our table. Fine, they didn't know we had already asked, and they were in front in the queue. The waiter went outside and kicked my wife off the table. I went to explain we had already asked, expecting just an apology and for him to allow my wife to sit while we waited. He shrugged and walked off. I can live with the mix-up, but not the attitude, a complete contrast to the service we had the evening before. Avoid this place if you don’t want to ruin your trip. The server was ridiculously rude at this place. We walked in and asked if there’s any table available and she told us to wait outside. She came across us multiple times and kept asking us to ‘wait a second’. We’ve been waiting at the door for 30 minutes until I asked her how long exactly do we need to wait for the next table. She rudely replied that there’s no table available for the next 3 hours. I asked her then what was the point keeping us waiting a second and holding us for 30 minutes and not telling about the real wait time. She could told us much more earlier instead of wasting our time. She yelled at us saying that didn’t you see I was busy working???!! The food was good. Not nearly worth their prices, but solid. The sauce on the pasta we ordered was nice. The tuna was bland and slightly overlooked. But overall that was fine.

The service, not so fine. We often asked each other if we were ghosts or maybe wearing an invisibility cloak? How could no one see us? We sat and waited 10 minutes for a MENU TO COME?!? That should have been a red flag right there. We simply could not get the attention of any of the staff all night. They seemed lost and maybe even a little overwhelmed by the two other occupied tables in the restaurant. All five of the staff. To handle three tables.

Honestly, would not recommend. The food was so incredibly expensive. Only tasted average at best. The service was... well see above....
