Ristorante Osteria alle Bottega — Restaurant in Venice

We should have read the reviews first!!! It was pouring rain so ducked in here, first mistake. Waiter was pleasant enough. Two types of red wine ? Ok first clue. Decided on pork Marsala , with grilled vegetables and potatoes. It came out with a greasy white water something!!!! Veg looked ok but no , potatoes not sure what century they were from over cooked and cold . The after taste was awful. Had to shave my tongue to get rid of the taste!!!! 🤢 do NOT eat here . I will eat anything and give it a go but…. Don’t waste your money. The waiter was ok until we said something. It my husbands meal was bread pork over cooked dry and cold . Apparently the waiter said they served a 100 that day !!! He was quite aggressive. I have never written a food review before I have had some bad food all over the world, but this beats it. Three of us ate at Osteria Alle Botteghe in late September, and returned before leaving Venice. Manuel, our waiter for two of the nights, was simply the best! Despite being extremely busy, he was incredibly kind and attentive and had a wonderful sense of humor. His friendly personality was such a warm welcome to the restaurant, and one of the main reasons we returned. The pasta dishes were quite good, but the seafood was really excellent, especially the sea bass, which was very fresh, and perfectly prepared. The last night, Manuel recommended a specialty fish that the chef expertly roasted, and Manuel deftly deboned at the table. It was served with vegetables that had been roasted with the fish, and it was a truly outstanding dish. Prosecco was available by the glass which was a nice accompaniment to the meals. We have been at this place, everytime we visited Venice. Obviously there had been a change in ownership. The Service (Owner) is incredibly unfriendly. Also the food is not as good as it used to be. They keep the lunch-menu on the evening card without any notice, it won‘t be served for dinner. Disappointed, we chose a pizza. Worst Pizza I have eaten in Italy. He wasn‘t happy about our choice as well, as it was too cheap for his taste. But we could tell by our neighbor-tables, that they weren’t‘t happy with the pricier dishes as the fishplatter too. As a bill, you get only the „tableoverview“ not a proper receipt. You will disappoint him another time, when paying by card. Most possibly because he can’t ship your bill around the taxing system.
