I stayed at the Kyoto store four years ago and the experience was very comfortable. However, those who stayed at the Hakata store this time after the epidemic can only express various regrets.Enabled QR code recognition and passport recognition made the entire check-in process extremely difficult and terrible. (Is it possible to send a guidance letter in advance to users who are about to move in?)Check-in is on the 9th floor, suitcases and changing clothes are on the 7th floor, and the sleeping cabin is on the 4th floor. The movement of the residents was cut into unusual pieces. Especially when you want to go out to experience the nightlife of Zhongzhou and Tianjin, you have to go through the above cumbersome process. There is no ventilation system in the sleep capsule, the power setting is extremely inconvenient, and there is no space to place it, which amplifies these irritating moods! The above is covered in high-tech appearance, but in fact it can only be said to be formalism. I can confirm that next time I visit Fukuoka, I will give priority to other hostels in Tenjin to avoid these bad feelings.I stayed at the Kyoto branch four years ago, and it was a very comfortable experience. However, this time after the epidemic, I can only say that I have all kinds of regrets about staying at the Hakata branch. The QR code and passport control made the whole check-in process difficult and awful. (Is it possible to send a guidance letter in advance to those who are about to check in?)Check-in is located on the 9th floor, luggage and changing on the 7th floor, and sleeping cabins on the 4th floor. The resident's lines of movement are all cut into unusually fragmented pieces. Especially if you're going out to experience the nightlife of Nakasu & Tenjin again with a cumbersome process as above. These irritations are amplified by details such as the lack of a ventilation system inside the sleep capsule, extremely inconvenient power settings, and the lack of space to put things away! All of the above is just a formality in the guise of high technology. I am sure that next time I visit Fukuoka, I will prefer other hostels in Tenjin to avoid these...
Read moreThe location is great since it's only a few minute walk from Hakata station. There is also a 7-11 just up the street so very convenient.
This is my first time staying at a capsule hotel and it's nice...everything is clean and modern. The locker room is clean and the showers were clean. My capsule was clean.
The only minor complaints that I have are:
The lounge is beautiful and nice but was pretty hot so got uncomfortable. There are a few fans near the entrance but the rest of the area was hot.
I got almost no sleep. The capsule itself is comfortable but sound proofing is not so good so there was a guy snoring loudly all night long. But what was much worse was another guy who was coughing up a lung all night long...every few seconds it was major coughing. With covid, that guy should have been kicked out! The floors are also not carpeted or rug so people walking in/out all night can be distracting. I am not a light sleeper so if you are a light sleeper you will not like it.
Everything is automated so check in, entry via QR code, etc. The notice said that I can get ear plugs from the staff but I didn't actually see much staff and there's no front desk so I had no idea where to get ear plugs.
The capsule got a little hot with the curtain closed for privacy. But open the curtain and there's no privacy. This did eventually get better later at night though.
So I don't think I'll stay at a capsule hotel again. I'll just pay a little more and get a hotel room. I did want to try it out for the experience though and have realized that it's not for me.
I got breakfast included and it's at the Caffe Veloce at Hakata station. You can get one of their breakfast sets which for me was Set A, their half sandwich with tuna and cheese as well as a coffee. I think it costs around 480 jpy and this was the breakfast...
Read moreLocation is easily walkable from Hakata Station. Staff is friendly, however since the hotel lobby is on the 9th floor and you can't access your room without changing elevators at 9 to your floor, this means a sometimes frustratingly long time to get from the street to your locker and back: the single elevator from ground to 9th floor can get quite busy, making such a round trip quite possibly take some 10 minutes. The lockers are decently sized for a solo traveller with a single large suitcase or two small carry-on sized ones, but my one carry-on and one mid-sized suitcase made it a challenge to fit everything inside the locker. The lockers, shower and make-up amenities are on one floor with the capsules on another, and the rules stated one shouldn't bring large luggage onto the capsules floor. I believe this is with the intention of minimizing noise in the sleeping pods. In my one night there, there were a good few instances of loud conversation and suitcase noises to make an early sleeper miserable without earplugs in. However this greatly depends on luck and I wish nights like mine are rare examples. The lounge on the lobby floor is open 24 hours, with appropriate desk setups for reading, eating or working.Checkout is easy with a drop of the key card into the checkout bin on the morning. Front desk was fine with holding my luggage from...
