This was a place I can only enjoy as a one-time stay. I can't see myself going back again with my family.
The place is a little old, so the walls are thin and you can hear the people next door. They will give you earplugs, so if you have troubles sleeping you can use them. However, the problem of your neighbours hearing you is not solved.
If you have baby screaming, they can hear you. If you want to let one rip, they can hear you. If you want to sneeze your brains out, they can hear you.
The bathroom is small and it really seems like a business hotel changed to a family friendly room. I would say if you are going solo, this place wouldn't be bad. Or if you are university student.
The food was good. They had one main dish and there was a buffet for side dishes. You will be stuffed and the taste was pretty good. For breakfast, it was a buffet and I probably enjoyed the breakfast more. They have cereal, as well.
The hotspring was a little old, but it was nice.
I went by car, but the parking was limited, so I was happy I got there early. It was pretty packed by 6pm.
In short, unless I was young or going by myself, I can't see myself going back. And even then, I would have to...
Read moreWhen we were looking online for a hotel in Hakone we found the prices to be very high! So we tried to look for a reasonably priced hotel, we found Ra Kuun and booked a room for two nights, for almost $200 a night including breakfast and dinner.||The hotel was in the middle of the road that goes downhill to the city center, 10 minutes walk from a bus stop, although the road is not walking friendly! There was no sidewalk!||From the outside the hotel looked so nice and neat, the reception was fine too. But the room was very old and worn! The bathroom cannot fit a baby, the beds are so uncomfortable, and most annoying thing was that there was no soundproofing whatsoever! and the couple next door weren't the cutest neighbors! I had to sleep with earplugs on!||The breakfast and dinner were too Japanese, but I assume it was okay.||The spa was a bad idea.. that I peeked a look from the door and decided not to go inside.||The only great thing about the hotel was the staff.. They were too friendly and nice, bad english, but they'd go out of their way to help you out and make your life easier.||I hope they do some serious renovation to the inside...
Read moreAn ok place which we stayed at cause we booked late and most places were sold out. It was basic and functional, but needs a refurb. Bathroom was extremely small as can be the way in Japan. The bathroom taps/shower were a bit of a nightmare to get to a decent temperature and volume. Beds were firm. The onsen was very functional and was extremely hot. Yukata provided and get to choose the size which is nice extra. Staff were lovely. Bus is a bit of a pain to get and involves walking on the road which didn’t feel safe at times. Wasn’t worth the...
