Way over-priced, meant to earn tourists' monies with minimum or no value at all. it's a budget family inn, u might as well consider paying a bit more for a proper hotel/ryokan and be happier. ||The short-haired middle-aged lady who checked us in seems more eager to be counting the money in her metal box. A total opposite of all the good service and kind hospitality that we received throughout all the other japanese hotels that we have stayed. ||Total disgrace to the nice japanese culture, every body is courteous except her.||||Asked for extra hot water and the lady gave a very unhappy look on her face and replied us "it is too much"! To our dismay, they do not have basic water kettle facility in the room, if u need to boil water, u have to ask her for it only to get this reply. We paid so much money only to receive such service. She can speak English, but i guess her usage of the language is too inappropriate when she keeps asking us "do u understand? do u understand that it is too much?" This is so rude.||||The room and communal bath stinks, there is a funny stench in the room, filling your nostrils. ||Open the room window and u will be shocked with your room view - looking into the family inn's neighbouring house - the windows are so close to each other, u can see and hear them clear;y at night. It is a very weird view, when u see someone old nursing there. Feels like a hospital.||||Avoid at all cost!! We did not sleep a wink the...
Read moreMy niece and I spent our Golden Week vacation(May3-5,2014) in Hakone. We were not booked originally in this Guest House but we were told that our Hotel of choice was not capable in hosting us,they decided to find us a new place, and that was Moto-Hakone Guest House. At first I was, 'whaaat is this place?' and according to someone here, it is a horrible place. But NO, it is a very cozy place. A very homey atmosphere welcomed us when the owners arrive. ||||The Guest House is equipped with 2 shower rooms, 1 with the traditional ofuro(bath tub) with free bath salts! They also have 2 toilets. The best thing was you can wear a Yukata(sleeping robe,I think) for free. And they provide face and bath towels. We did not have any problems regarding our stay. Tetsuya and Malika, the owners are very warm people. I really recommend this place for those who wanted to just relax and enjoy the view. ||||||The Guest House can be reached via the K bus for Moto-Hakone station. Get off the Ohshiba station, walk a little to your north, look for the vending machine on the corner of the road and you can see the guest house on your right. ||||I hope you will have a great stay there...
Read moreWe walked for 2 hours at night because we got turned around. We missed the 9pm check in cut off but the manager still got out of his room just to check us in at 9:15 and he didn't turn is away. The manager is excellent. He's extremely nice and even offered us an extra night stay. Plenty of meals offered but you should order it a day in advance if you want breakfast in the morning. Cheap o'sake- Special 300yen price in the dining room. It's very fun. So please enjoy the yukata. The private bath house was nice to use at night. The toilet on the right had a broken seat that pinched. So try the one on the left. It's a great traditional Japanese style tatami room with free matcha and plenty of hot water to use in your room. TV. It's great and I had a good time. Comfy futons.
