Last night, I had an absolutely fantastic kaisendon — honestly one of the best I’ve ever eaten. The seafood was super fresh: melt-in-your-mouth salmon, vibrant tuna, sweet shrimp, and scallops that tasted like they were just caught. The rice was fragrant, just right amount of vinegar, and the portion was generous — none of those tiny bowls where you leave hungry. The setting was cozy, atmosphere calm, staff friendly and attentive. Overall: delicious, top quality, great value. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Lady owner prepares the food on the spot, very much a one-man show with seating for 10 max. Her father distributes fish around the Hakone area, hence she's able to get her hands on fresh stuff. The Chirashi don bowl comes with four types of raw fish and a shrimp on top, along with the usual accroutements, it was packed to the brim and very filling. A neat find in Hakone, and a satisfying meal. No wonder all you see are great reviews!

We struggled to find a decent place in Motohakone for food and we chose this place based on the reviews. We had to wait a bit, because the interior has only a few tables. We ate a delicious sushi bowl with fresh ingredients and a nice warm miso soup. There was also tea and water available on the table. The girl from the restaurant was very nice and spoke well English. Super good value for the money!

During my recent trip to Hakone, I stumbled upon a charming little restaurant called Daimasa, and it was an unforgettable experience. Operated by a single very friendly woman, Daimasa exudes a warmth and authenticity that is rare to find.

Atmosphere and Service: The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and a genuine welcome. The cozy, intimate setting of the restaurant made me feel right at home. Despite being the only person running the restaurant, the owner managed to provide impeccable service with a personal touch. Her friendliness and attentiveness added to the overall charm of the dining experience.

The Meal: I decided to try the grilled eel in teriyaki sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. The eel was perfectly cooked—tender and flavorful, with a delightful balance of sweetness and savoriness from the teriyaki sauce. Each bite was a testament to the care and skill that went into its preparation. It’s clear that the owner takes great pride in her cooking, and it truly shows in the quality of the food.

Overall Experience: Dining at Daimasa was a highlight of my visit to Hakone. The combination of delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and exceptional service made it a memorable experience. I highly recommend Daimasa to anyone visiting Hakone. It’s a wonderful reminder of the beauty of small, locally-operated establishments and the incredible culinary experiences they can offer. Don’t miss out on...
