Overall, we would not stay here again and did not enjoy our stay.
Positives: The room was the best part, very clean, extremely small though, comfy bed and sheets etc. Pretty good breakfast, great coffee, toast, jam, onion and corn soups, boiled eggs, but that was it.
Negatives: Only one staff spoke any English, and all other staff were surprisingly rude and unhelpful, unheard of for Japan! I called down to ask for an extra pillow the first night (we only got two) because of a back injury I need extra support while I sleep, and his response was a hard no. When I asked why he said something I didn't understand and hung up on me. I decided to ask someone else the next day and again, no and this staff couldn't tell me why either. Such a simple, small request that would have made our stay infinitely better and they rudely refused. They also dropped our bags filled with breakables without apology then left it on the floor to help another guest so we picked it all up ourselves. Last thing that ensured a bad review was the constant glaring at the guests during breakfast like we were attempting to steal something.
It was not a comfortable stay. If they changed their staff I think it would be...
Read moreHad to check in past midnight but nobody was at the front desk even though check in is until 1am. Called out but nobody answered from the back office. Had to get creative because the bell to call for someone was tucked away and hard to reach. Guy was really nice and apologetic when he came out though. But yeah, that bell shouldn’t have been hidden away.
Breakfast was bread and/or instant noodles. There was coffee, 2 kinds of juice, water. There were only 8 small tables so you either had to share a table or bring your food to your room, which I’m not sure is allowed. Other reviews said they had boiled eggs but that wasn’t on offer when I stayed there.
Honestly not an excellent hotel but it was okay. Room was tiny (could barely fit my small suitcase) but spotless and has basic amenities (shampoo conditioner body wash hand/facial wash sleeping...
Read moreThe hotel was pretty decent, in my opinion. The room for one person wasn’t too cramped either. On the first night, I didn’t sleep well because it was so cold—I’m not sure why, but the wind from outside came in through the window. However, on the second night, it seemed like the staff had fixed the window, so I wasn’t cold anymore and slept fine. The location is close to Kyoto Station, and it’s also a short walk to catch the bus. The downside is that drinking water is only available in the lobby. I was hoping they’d provide bottled water in the room or at least have a dispenser on each floor. It’s not noisy here either—the only loud thing was the hairdryer, which seems a bit old. Overall, it was a...
