Our family of four (2 adults, kids ages 8 and 12) had an amazing 7-night stay at MONday Apart Premium KYOTO Station during our 10-day Japan trip. This was our second MONday Apart location after staying at their Akihabara property in Tokyo, and both exceeded our expectations.||Location:|The hotel is about 10-15 minutes walking distance from Kyoto Station, making it really convenient for day trips to Osaka, Nara Park, and other areas around the region. While we could easily walk to the station, we opted for quick taxi rides when we had our luggage with us during the sweltering summer heat (low 90s with high humidity). |The neighborhood felt totally safe walking around at all times, and having a beautiful temple directly across the street reminded us of Kyoto's amazing architecture. The adjacent Family Mart was also a lifesaver for grabbing cooking essentials (including cooking oil), snacks, and quick meals.||Staff:|The staff truly went above and beyond at every interaction. When we arrived a couple of hours before check-in, they immediately offered to store all our luggage without us even asking. It was a thoughtful gesture that allowed us to explore the nearby Kyoto Aquarium (walking distance) while we waited. Every staff member was incredibly friendly and genuinely helpful throughout our stay.||Room:|The spacious rooms were very clean and perfect for our family. The bunk bed setup was ideal for our kids and even accommodated our tall 12-year-old. The full kitchen came equipped with everything we needed: cutlery, dishes, bowls, chopsticks, pans, and knives, plus an induction stovetop that made preparing quick breakfasts easy.|The bathroom featured a large walk-in shower/wet room design where you could choose between showering or bathing, with plenty of space for multiple people to get ready. Having an in-room washer/dryer was convenient, though I'd recommend not overfilling it since it's a combo unit. Lighter loads definitely dry much more effectively.||Price:|While we paid slightly more than our typical hotel budget, the value was exceptional considering we got apartment-style accommodation with a full kitchen, laundry facilities, and comfortable sleeping for four people. The money saved on meals and laundry services probably offset the higher price. ||We would absolutely seek out MONday Apart properties again on future...
Read moreOur family had a delightful 3-night stay at MONday Apart Premium Kyoto Station after spending a week in Tokyo and a night in Osaka for the Yodogawa annual fireworks.
Highlights:
Convenient Location: The hotel is an easy 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, surrounded by malls and eateries, making it a perfect base for exploring the city.
Great Connectivity: It's a short walk to Kyoto Aquarium and just 2 minutes to a bus stop where bus 206 takes you straight to Kiyomizu-dera which is ideal for starting a day in historic Kyoto, with Gion, other temples, and Nishiki Market nearby.
Exceptional Service: We arrived finding our baggage safely kept in reception after using the Yamamoto luggage forward service from Tokyo. We were also thrilled to find a free minibus service to the Golden Pavilion. This must-see attraction was made even more accessible thanks to this punctual service.
In-Room Amenities: The in-room washing dryer machine was incredibly convenient for our multi-day stay. The hotel also provided washing liquid packs at reception.
Relaxation Facilities: While we didn't use the basement sauna, it's a nice touch to offer a free 1-hour session, available by reservation.
Comfortable Stay: The provided pajamas were a lovely, comfortable addition.
Nearby Conveniences: Having a Family Mart convenience store right next door was great for grabbing breakfast supplies, drinks, and other necessities.
Entertainment Options: The kids were delighted with the free rental of a Nintendo Switch, as mentioned in other reviews.
Friendly Staff: The reception staff were very friendly and proficient in English, which made our stay even more pleasant.
Towel Replacement: The request to leave used towels in a basket outside the room led to a slight mix-up. Our replaced clean towels seemed to have been taken by a neighbor. However, the reception promptly provided us with a new set.
Air Conditioner: We had a Superior Family Room and the air conditioner was quite powerful, which might be slightly uncomfortable for those in the main twin beds directly facing it. We couldn’t find a way to reduce the fan speed on the controller.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at MONday Apart Premium Kyoto Station and would definitely choose them again for our next...
Read moreLocation|We took a cab to the hotel because we were lugging around our check-in luggages after moving from Osaka and Google Maps said it would be a 17 minute walk to the hotel. We dropped off our luggage to the friendly receptionists who guided us on which bus to take to Kiyomizu-dera. That being said, walking with only 1 luggage after dropping off our luggages at Yamato transport, it was an easy 10-ish minute walk. I think the location is decent, close to Kyoto station but as Kyoto is big and you can get around easily by bus, it really depends on where you want to go. There are many bus stops around which gets your easily to Kiyomizu-dera, Gion and Arashiyama.||Check-in|Check in was easy enough and we were told our bags were already put into our rooms. Unfortunately we had a minor stressed out moment when we realised one bag was missing. I went to the reception to tell them and they assured me that they will look into it. Within 10 minutes they found our bag, apologised profusely and gave us mineral water bottles as a form of apology. I don’t hold this against them as everyone makes mistakes and they found it anyway. ||Room|The room is spacious and it was great that it had an in-room washer/dryer and you could get laundry detergent from the front desk. It also had a Balmuda toaster which we used to warm up breads/buns and toast shokupan. It was really good that they had a table for us to sit and have simple meals. They also have a stove and utensils but we did not use them so shall not comment. Bathroom and toilet were separated which made it convenient for all of us to share. I will say that while there is a fold out bunk bed, the top bunk wasn’t very high from the lower bunk so you could easily bump your head when you wake up half asleep. They have power plugs and USB ports so it was very easy to charge all our devices. The room was fairly clean but I would recommend the hotel to clean the vents in the toilet and air cond as well as the curtain/blond which were a little dusty. ||Overall very good stay at would definitely recommend...
