Modern and clean hotel with a hot spring at the top floor (free for hotel guests). It's around 5 minutes walk from Kyoto station. I enjoyed the traditional Japanese breakfast too. It's like eating fine dining for breakfast where they serve you a set of many small dishes. There's also a table in the breakfast area where you can help yourself to juice, bread, vege salad, yoghurt, rice/porridge and miso soup. I love their potato salad. ||||We stayed for two nights in the Corner double room that was Japanese style with tatami flooring. Room was nice and cosy with a comfortable double bed, TV (only one English channel BBC that has Japanese translation at certain hours), a mini fridge, in-room safe deposit box and an air purifier. Aircon was nice and cool and wifi speed was fast in our room. We were given 2 complimentary bottles of mineral water daily in our room. There's also 2 sets of Japanese yukatas, a small pouch and small towels on our bed upon check-in to our room. Yukata is for you to wear, pouch is for your clothes or personal belongings and remember to bring along the small towels when you go to the onsen hot spring on the 8th flloor. There are no towels provided at the onsen. Bring your own small towel from the room. There is also slippers the door to change into once you enter your hotel room. You can wear this to the onsen. Hot spring timing is from 6.30-9.30am and 3pm to midnight. We went there everyday of my stay in the hotel. It was good to relax your muscles in the onsen after a long day of sightseeing. I really enjoyed the hot spring. There are 2 baths - one indoor and one outdoor. And sometimes (I think in the morning), the hotel would alternate the baths for male and female. So check the sign before entering.||||Staff were friendly and helpful and could speak English. Check-in and out was fast. There are 3 to 4 convenience stores near to the hotel. There's Isetan department store with food court upstairs and many restaurants at the nearby Porta that is located in front of Kyoto station. Though the hotel is not near any tourist attractions, you can take easily take train or bus from Kyoto station. We chose to stay near Kyoto station so that it is easier to travel to other parts of Japan, like Osaka (30 minutes train away). ||||Here's some directions how to go to Kyoto Hot spring Hotel Kyoto (based on our experience as we had trouble finding it) : if you're coming from Kyoto station, exit the station and take the escalator down to street level. Coming down the escalator, you will see Porta Dining in front of you. Turn left and walk towards Bic Camera. Once you pass Bic Camera, turn right. Walk past APA hotel. A few more steps and you will see a 8 storey building which is Hatoya hot spring hotel. Hope this helps! Overall we enjoyed our stay in this hotel and will definintely...

We had the pleasure of staying overnight in this beautiful hotel. We were a family of 4 people (2adults and 2kids) and we stayed in a room with a private onsen on the top floor. The room was spacious and immaculately presented. It was a lovely mix and perfect balance of western and Japanese touches. The room we stayed in had a separate toilet with sink, separate shower with double sink and the private onsen was in a separate area with a small area where you could bathe and clean yourself before entering the onsen bath. The onsen is natural hot springs and is great for relaxing after a long day of exploring Kyoto.||||The room was bright, immaculately clean and well appointed. The beds were comfortable and the sheets crisp and white. The room had a separate dining room separated by paper screens. We all had a ball wearing the traditional yukatas (provided) and sitting around the low japanese table drinking green tea. Close to bedtime, we had some lovely staff members set up the futons in the dining room for the kids to sleep on. They set aside the tables and chairs. The kids loved it and they felt very authentic sleeping on futons with tatami mats and paper screens around them. ||||We also tried the public onsen on the 8th floor(same floor as our room so we didn’t have to travel far). The onsen was clean and had both an indoor and semi outdoor baths. Please note only adults are allowed in the public onsen.||||The front office staff were all lovely and helpful. They stored our bags before check in and after check out so we could continue exploring Kyoto. They also were very knowledgeable and gave us good directions to tourist spouts. ||||The hotel is short walk from Kyoto station and there are numerous convenience stores near the area. There is also a mall connected to the train station with a lot of restaurants to choose from. ||||The room was a bit pricey but well worth the money. If you can, definitely get the room with a private onsen. You will not regret it. Thank you for a great stay! If you are thinking of going to Kyoto and staying at this property, we highly...

Located within walking distance of Kyoto station, even with heavy luggage, this is an extremely convenient location as there are elevators and escalators to access all nearby trains (28 minutes to Osaka on JR Special) and buses. Searching on google or Apple Maps? Easiest is to use: Annie Hall Bar The 8th floor onsen is heavenly first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening. Two different areas are alternately male and female morning and evening. For those unfamiliar with onsens and Japanese culture: Come upstairs to the 8th floor in the provided robe, belt, and slippers traditional Japanese style. There are lockable cubbies with the key attached to an elastic that goes around your wrist. Slippers are removed just outside the first set of cubbies. 2nd set of larger lockable cubbies are in locker room. *Fully* wash prior to entering onsen. Take small towel into onsen area and keep It dry. Westerners should take a quick education session on what to do in Japanese onsen. Breakfast on the 2nd floor is delicious traditional Japanese. Photo below. Rooms are well appointed. Slightly dated but still elegant and quite nice. Annie Hall Bar and Baikal restaurant/cafe on the ground level. So many restaurants within a 4-block walk it’s almost overwhelming. Plenty of choice. If you are a westerner it’ll take a tiny bit more effort to stay here but you can still easily get by in English. There are two washers (automatically dispense detergent, 300 yen - take 100-yen coins only) and two dryers (100-yen coin gets 30 minutes of drying) on the 8th floor onsen level. There are also machines on that level vending drinks including beer and cocktails in a can 190 yen, 110 yen for juice boxes. My wife and I highly recommend this hotel as a relaxing base to plan a satisfying enjoyable trip to Kyoto.

Really good service here. The rooms are cosy but if you have a lot of luggage, it might be a bit cramped. Otherwise, it has all the amenities one would need for a short trip inside the traditional city of Kyoto. It is one of the few hot spring hotels in Kyoto. Although there's not much of a view from the rooms and the bathing area, being not too tall when compared to nearby buildings, but it makes up in interior design. The hotel itself has a traditional feel to it. The moment you walk inside, you feel as though you've left the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel is a 5-10 minutes walk from Kyoto station, eating out usually means returning back to Kyoto Station area for restaurant. There are a few local restaurants nearby but don't expect them to know much English. The staff at the hotel though, they're actually really nice and helpful. One must not forget the traditional breakfast on offer, they have this special plum water drink (served in the morning) that's really good for detox. You might think, "well, it's only preserved plum with water" but the water is actually got spring water and the plum is local (I think they preserve it themselves) and you might not like the taste at first, but stay a few mornings and you'll feel your appetite has actually improved because of it.

Firstly, I liked the room layout where there was a normal style area and a Japanese style area. Although I don't like Japanese cuisine for breakfast, they do have good salmon and fish for breakfast. The only problem for me is that the shower room was hard for me and not really English-Friendly, but I understand that because I think people in Japan prefer this style. The hot spring on the 8th? floor was comfy and relaxing because at that time it was 1 degree Celsius. This stay is relaxing and they also have the hard candy which tastes the best. Definitely coming back if I could.
