I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Ramen restaurant near Kyoto station and I must say, it was an experience to remember. The restaurant caught my attention due to its unique shellfish soup base which I was curious to try.
Upon arrival, I was pleased to see that there were only about 5-6 people waiting outside the restaurant. Fortunately, I was able to get a seat within 20 minutes of arriving. The restaurant had a vending machine where you can purchase your ticket which is a common practice among Ramen shops in Japan.
I ordered the clam ramen with clam boiled rice and I was pleasantly surprised with how good it tasted. The seafood soup base was something new to me and it definitely exceeded my expectations. The rice was also cooked perfectly and complemented the ramen well. I must say, it was a truly fulfilling meal and the price of 1300 yen was quite reasonable considering the quality of the food.
Overall, I had a great experience dining at this Ramen restaurant. The unique shellfish soup base and the fulfilling meal made it a memorable experience. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good bowl of Ramen in the Kyoto area. Just make sure to bring cash as the vending machine...

Waited around 40mins from roughly 7pm on a weekday. Ordering machine is multilingual and it’s quite user-friendly.
We ordered Kaidashi-Men Shio, Hamaguri Ramen Shoyu, both with special topping which is one piece of dumping. Personally will recommend the seasoned egg only than with the topping however the price different wont hurt. In general we think shio brings out the best of clams and it’s easier to eat than some very traditional dark soy sauce base counterparts.
To finish with a half (or full if you don’t mind the double carbon bomb) rice bowl is quite recommended. Also, please don’t ignore the little seasoning on the side — the special chilly powder will elevate the taste of the broth to another level.
Really want to try the other two options on the menu before we leaving Kyoto. Hope everyone enjoys this...
Read moreBest to stick with the clam and beef shiyo broth as the taste is so balanced and not fishy, looks clear but it’s very umami, whole and not oily 12/10!!! The spicy clam soup is nice too but it masks the beauty of the clam broth 7/10 The noodle is perfect!!! Right texture and cooked perfectly 10/10. This shop seems to have queue all the time but it should not take more than 40mins if there are 10 people queuing. Definitely worth it. The menu has some English words but not 100% comprehensible, for example you won’t realise whether the bowl that you ordered will have boiled egg or not. To use the vending machine, 1. put cash in (only 1000 note, or you can ask for change). Press the dish Flip the coin slot if there is any change. Give the tickets to the waitress. If there are options for shio/ shoyu, the waiter will ask...
