We had a so much fun taking the gyoza making workshop with Maya at Samurai Factory a few weeks ago! We really learned every step in making gyoza from scratch and Maya made the whole process really fun. And we couldn't believe we made such delicious dumplings! You really learn how to make everything: the mix of the dough for the wrapper, rolling it to the right thinness, creating the mix for the filling, a variety of techniques in folding them, and how to cook them. They were so good! We never thought we could have made such a delicious dumpling from scratch but now feel like we can do this in our own kitchens.

We also had such a nice time chatting with Maya and her colleague Ryo, who were lovely, and learned a lot about Japanese culture during our afternoon there. This was a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon in Kyoto - I would highly recommend any classes Samurai...

We had the Gyoza-making course (¥16500 at the time), and it was simply the best workshop experience I've ever had in Japan!

First of all, the place was very beautiful, it has traditional Japanese interior and exterior aesthetics and the atmosphere is very calming.

We learnt how to make authentic traditional Japanese gyoza from scratch, from folding the gyoza and grilling them Japanese-style, we even got to eat them all afterwards, and it was really really good!

The instructors were super friendly, and they speak really good English too! Their instructions are very easy to follow and they seem very experienced in teaching similar courses such as ramen making course.

10/10 would highly recommend for people seeking to experience authentic Japanese dish...

This place is really amazing. I am from Zimbabwe I got to learn from scratch how to make gyoza. The instructor was very patient with us teaching every step. You don't need to pay anything or bring anything you use everything from them for free. Eventually when you're done you get to taste/eat the food. The best experience I ever had in Japanese. The hospitality is top notch. I had never tasted gyoza in my entire life. I got to cook it and taste it for the very first time. I made delicious gyoza with different designs and shape I got to learn this day. I recommend this place for tasting the delicious Japanese or Kyoto gyoza. Also preparing gyoza from scratch from zero to being the best. Come to this place. Samurai gyoza factory is...

I joined the gyoza-making experience at Samurai Gyoza Factory and had a truly memorable time with my friends. The class takes place in a beautifully renovated Kyomachiya—a traditional Kyoto townhouse—with a peaceful garden and even a full suit of samurai armor on display. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the instructors guided us step by step, from kneading the dough to folding the dumplings. It was my first time making gyoza from scratch, and I was surprised by how fun and rewarding it was. The freshly cooked gyoza were incredibly delicious—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to explore Japanese food culture in a hands-on way.

I had a great experience learning about gyoza, making it, and a lovely dinner at Samurai Gyoza Factory Kyoto! Ryo was a fantastic teacher— very friendly, amazing English, and very clear in his instructions/explainations. It was a very small group so I had a lot of time to ask questions and learn more about Japanese/ Kyoto culture. The hands-on gyoza-making was a lot of fun, the wide selection of ingredients allowed me to personal my gyoza, and of course, the gyoza turned out delicious. Ryo explained every aspect of the process, the recipe, and his insider knowledge as a local. This workshop was definitely a highlight of my evening, and I’d recommend this cultural experience to anyone visiting!
