Beware!! This hotel offers no respect nor hospitality for their guests. I have traveled the whole world and have never been so ill treated. While enjoying my first breakfast (which is of a horrible quality) a lady from the reception came towards me and surprised me by simply yelling- I am not kidding the woman was shaking! She argued that I did not write my room number on her list.
If I had seen her, of course I would - as I have in many other hotels around the world when the hostess is right in front of the breakfast entrance. In this case, she was simply in the middle of the hall- of course I did not see her nor was aware that by not signing up my room I would be entitled to a free humiliating extremely aggressive treatment!
I am beyond shocked, I have worked in the hospitality industry and could have never imagined that paying a quite expensive room (honestly for such lack of humanity even a 1$ per night room is expensive) we would be given zero respect. Me and my parents are horrified, we felt treated like animals!!
Moreover, beware, other than the crazy lady in the reception and her colleague who consented to her actions — this hotel DOES NOT help any non-speaking Japanese person to make ANY reservations (as you can see in the picture ) They also DO NOT HELP with any inquiry. When we arrived we politely asked the reception if they could call a restaurant, that we had found on the internet, to see if they have any availability in the next 30 minutes. The lady in the reception REFUSED to do so. Welcome to the most unwelcoming place! Advice for the management : please study how to be more hospitable, there are countless books online and many universities that offer hospitality industry courses.
I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HORRIBLE PLACE. If you wish to come here be ready for the most humiliating treatment of your life.
Ps: this review deserves less than zero stars!!...
Read moreOur experience here was great! |My partner and I stayed in this hotel for 6 nights for our first time in Japan, and we were very happy we chose this hotel. We were running late for the check-in time that we said we would be there for as we got delayed at the airport. I messaged the hotel directly through my Booking.com account to let them know that we would be late, and they got back to us straight away with no issue and waited for us. Which was lovely. Our check-in experience was so easy and all of the staff are so kind and helpful all the time. They have free toiletries, pyjamas, lotions etc. in the lobby you can help yourself too for free which is a lovely touch. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Comfortable big bed, nice TV, great shower and bath. We had everything we needed! However, something minor, we did notice that the room did not have a wardrobe in it, so if you’re staying for a bit longer than we did you’ll have to be comfortable living out of your suitcase. Which was no issue for us. But may be annoying for you if you like hanging your clothes up. There are also laundry facilities. You can wash and tumble dry your clothes for a small fee. The hotel is very close to public transport like trains and buses. It is also very close to the main city in Kyoto, everything is walking distance! If you don’t feel like leaving the Kyoto area, there are so many amazing places to eat and drink in just a short walking distance. But if you also feel like leaving the area for a day out, the train stations are even closer. My partner and I definitely recommend staying in this hotel. The location is very convenient, and we would come back again when visiting Kyoto,...
Read moreHad it not been for the rudest and most blatantly disrespectful front desk staff I have ever encountered, this would have been a very pleasant stay. I don't write reviews, but the level of unprofessionalism and unprovoked disdain expressed by the pair of front desk attendants, 'Okita' in particular, has made me change my ways. Just because your clientele are visitors to Japan does not mean they cannot understand Japanese, particularly the arrogant scoffs and string of insults you two muttered to each other about your guests. Your purpose at this hotel is to assist your customers, not to act entitled, impatient, and burdened when one of them has a question about the area or about hotel policy, and it is definitely not your job to insult them under your breath while you stare them down as if you have something to prove. More importantly, your purpose at this hotel is to represent Kyoto and Japan, and I am so thankful that Japan does not share the same attitude of miserable arrogance seethed by the two of you. To any future travelers reading this, please seriously consider your options before handing your hard-earned money to this establishment. Read the reviews left by prior guests. The hotel's generic, lackadaisical response to each of the multitude of service-related complaints and negative reviews emphasize one major, underlying theme - customer service and hospitality are wastes of their time and they have no intention or desire to fix this. Please, spend the extra few bucks and stay somewhere that won't ruin your afternoon and won't muddy that ethereal image of Japan you will have traveled so far...
