Pros: İt's clean and the staff is responsive. Most of the staff did speak English which was good. Prior to that place we didn't meet anyone speaking English at basic understanding level i would say. They replaced towels every day. Cons: the room is too small for guests with even small suitcases. We had to do some rearrangment to find a place for two suitcases. The room didn't have openable window (neither a balcony) so the unclean air in the room did make me cough the first night before i get used to it. There is an air freshener machine in the room but it rather takes place than clear the air. When we asked about a room with an openable window both of the receptionists said there were no rooms with openable windows in the entire building (One of them said "due to security reasons". İn Japan, really?). We did read reviews on Google left by guests staying here before and surprising no one commented about this issue, and this is an issue. Two reviews even were saying that they had problems with the window which did not very well and due to this it was noisy inside. The other one said they hardly open the window in the room İt is sufficient to conclude that there are rooms with openable windows in the hotel but the staff lied about it (we don't know why). Don't book unless you ensure that you are in a room with an openable window. The room with the garden on the photos, not sure if it is from this building at all. İt looks like they are only fishing guests with this option as it wasn't an option on...
Read moreThis hotel fell significantly short of expectations. Despite booking a "superior" room, the space was exceptionally cramped and lacked basic amenities such as a closet. The discrepancy between the online photos and the actual property was stark; while images suggested a garden and inviting common areas, there was none of that.. these were limited to a single room.
Further issues arose during check-in when the manager attempted to charge an additional fee, citing an incorrect reservation for one person instead of two. This occurred despite the room rate being consistent for both single and double occupancy on Booking.
The hotel's lack of proper luggage storage facilities, forcing guests to leave their belongings in the entrance area, raises concerns about both convenience and security. Overall, the establishment's amenities and service standards do not align with what one would typically expect from a...
Read moreWe just went to Japan for our 10 year wedding anniversary and stayed at the Gozan hotel & serviced apartment, it was easily the best hotel we stayed at!
The reception to our arrival was so great and everything was explained to us (in excellent English might I add) including when to get our luggage down to the front desk for takkyubin (luggage delivery) to our next hotel. They even helped fill out the forms for that which was such a huge stress relief and we greatly appreciated it.
The room itself was great, a bit small but still very comfortable! Our room had a washer/dryer which was a lifesaver since we packed very light for 2 weeks. The bathroom was clean and well stocked!
Location is also great, a huge shopping mall, convenience stores and river banks within walking distance. We easily hopped into subways to sightsee all around Kyoto whenever we wanted. Can't...
