Kumashu-an Machiya — Hotel in Kyoto

I had a lovely getaway with my friends in this Kyoto-house-style hotel that I had always wanted to stay at. Every detail of this cozy house made of wood was beyond my expectation and I was impressed by how this old house was renovated (I am a DIY freak.) adding modern Japanese taste making the best use of the existing parts. I also like how the hotel is kept - everything is clean and neat! It has a kitchen and the basic items so that we brought in yummy food and sake purchased at a local market for a little party. Its futons / beds and linen were the best and I slept like a baby after walking all around. (I thought the futon was better than many hotels' with stars.) Now I don't see any reason to stay in conventional hotels in Kyoto. I will definitely try other one of their hotels when I...

This house is a very beautiful, clean and comfortable Machi-ya close to Nijo-jo Castle. There are many sightseeing spots and restaurants near the house, which is located in a quite central and quiet place in Kyoto.

The inn is a traditional house with tatami and a little garden outside. It looks very new and has modern equipment. I really liked the atmosphere! There is a little kitchen to cook and also a washingmachine, bathtube, many amanities and very comfortable, clean beds!!

The staff was also very helpful with information about the surrounding and restaurant recomondations.
