Soba Tatsuichi — Restaurant in Kyoto

I learn about this restaurant which is just opposite Crowne Hotel.

From the quite discreet shop front, the interior is nice, bright from the glass sky panel and quite airy and cooling.

Decided to try their seasonal Autumn Soba, which includes duck, pacific saury and tempura.

The soup base is nice, strong bonito stock and taste wonderful, the duck and tempura were nice but tempura got soaked in with soup, but the highlight was the pacific Saury, it is flavour packed, a mouthful of umami explosion from a small bite.

I may have started with Pacific Saury which dulled the flavours of duck and tempura a little. The greens serves as a palate cleanser to bring freshness to prepare you for the next bite.

Duck soba is Kyoto iconic dishes, this sidewalk unassuming restaurant served it. Weekdays looks empty but comes weekend lines are from outside. For those looking for a Japanese experience, this place doesn't disappoint. Old wooden Japanese architecture complete with a mini zen garden. Service was prompt. Server spoke good English. Duck soba is what it is but the fried chicken is fantastic. One of the gimmick is fresh grill river fish. You will see a fish tank of fishes inside. The staff who guide customers to their seats inside the buckwheat noodle restaurant is a part-time student worker, but I feel that there is a problem with the manual. In the service industry, one needs to be aware of the situation and have a flexible attitude. The ordering system allows customers to order by reading the qr code and looking at the picture on their own smart phone. This is convenient for foreigners. The atmosphere is nice and pleasant, but the choice of tableware seems questionable. They are a little small to enjoy the ingredients, the temperature and the aroma of the broth. I felt a little...
