Read moreWe (2 adults, 2 teens) stayed 5 nights in a "garden-view family apartment" in July 2024, and had a terrific experience. It was our 2nd Mimaru (having stayed at Tokyo Asakusa Station earlier in our trip) and KS was just as good if not better. The front desk team is lovely - esp. Anh-san and Kiko-san: so friendly and helpful, with a warm welcome every time, helpful recommendations and umbrellas when necessary. We'd shipped our bags from Tokyo and they were waiting in our room when we arrived. The size is great; our tall teens (6ft/183cm ) found the bunk beds comfy, and the kitchen & dining spaces were very handy. The rooftop deck has a lovely view of the station & tower. We wondered if the ground-floor "garden" would mean a noisy stay but no, it was fine. We liked it so much that we cancelled our reservation that we had for another hotel for later in our trip when returning to Kyoto and booked M-KS instead. Our return night was spent on a higher floor (not garden-view) and it was just as great. The hotel staff even were able to keep our large bags for our 2 night trip away from Kyoto, and had them ready for us upon our return. As others have observed, the laundry facilities are very busy in the evenings and the dryers take roughly forever to dry, so do very small loads or plan on handwashing/hang-to-dry - but it's still handy to have laundry onsite. Can't say enough positive things about our experience. Thanks to Anh, Kiko and the rest of the team for making our Kyoto...
Read moreA perfect hotel for travelling in group, especially family members.
Although it is not surrounded by major tourist or shopping spots, however it is still convenient for us to travel around Kyoto as just around 10min walking distance to the Kyoto Station where you can get the domestic busses or subways.
We had a comfortable and relaxing stay. Probably, the rooms are spacious for group traveler. The Zen feel that probably came from the traditional Japanese interior designs has further enhanced our relaxation throughout our stay in this hotel.
In general, the staffs are extremely helpful and friendly. They were trying their best to answer us whenever we have any queries on reaching to our desire visiting spots. Moreover, they are "kids-friendly" as well. My daughter, who is 5 was speaking konichiwa and sayonara to the staff, and one of them (sorry, I do not know her name, but I would call her "Miss-Glasses" just came out from the counter and talk to my daughter and gave her an Origami. My daughter learnt to speak "see you next time" in Japanese from the internet, just to speak to one of the hotel staff on our check-out day. Most of them are well verse in English, so no communication barrier at all.
The facilities provides by the hotel are sufficient. You can do basic cooking and laundry without any problem. Furthermore, we were allowed to store our luggage before our check-in time / after our check-out time for free.
Please maintain the quality. Hope we...
