I was looking at any hotels, on the "front side" of Kyoto station, but in the end we had to look on the other side. And that was the best thing every!!|My husband, job was to find the hotels for this trip to Japan. |And he did a great job, on this hotel :D||The hotel has a link to Avanti (next door) by an elevator, during opening times. And next door to Seven 11. It's across the road from the Kyoto station, making life easy.||Now to the hotel, and room. |We were greeted, on arrival by a very nice man. He asked if we was booking in, and got a member of lobby staff, to book us in. |He was called away, by an customer asking about IC cards, and if he could use his one. With all the problems with IC cards at the time, I came over to help out (as we had some problems too).|I left my husband to complete our check in.||We totally forgot what kinda of room, we had looked at and booked. |We were told that our room was ready, eventho we had arrived before check in time. So we went on up.||And WOW!!!|The room was great. Didn't look anything like, the photos on the site.|Relaxing after our shinkansen ride from Tokyo, was a blessing.|It was very clean, darkish with some of the lights on(I'll explain later).||As our room backed up in to Avanti. We really didn't get much daylight, but that was ok. The lighting in the room was fine, and we kept the curtains closes anyways. ||Bathroom and toilet 🚽, are in separate (GREAT!!!). The bathroom, had a bath tub🛀(good size) with a shower🚿(combine). ||The bedroom area, had a table and two chairs near the window. |A nice size television, on the opposite side of the beds (nice to watch tv in bed 😂). |There is a wardrobe on one side of the television. And a cupboard with tea cups, glasses, kettle etc, and a fridge below on the other side of the television.||Talking about Avanti, it was linked in kinda three ways. |1. The elevator from the hotel (only during opening hours). |2. Next to Seven-11 (ground floor). |3. An footpath outside the hotel ,downstairs (leads to the basement floor, and towards Kyoto station (underground)).|| The hotel is less than 5 minutes (traffic lights), across the road from Kyoto Station. So taking shinkansen, local trains, and any buses (local too), is super easy.||Anyways back to the hotel.|We spent 7 (seven) days there. And we also paid for breakfast as well. So we got umm breakfast passes with our room number on it (for everyday of the stay), which had to taken with us, when we pop down for breakfast.||There is also a nice seating area, in front of the restaurant.|We didn't really walked around the hotel, as we had a busy 6 days.||Sum up,|The hotel was a surprise, and great find.|Did have a little problem with my bedding on the first night. That was all sorted, by the time we got back from the day out.|The room was wow!!!!|Customer service/ staff were great.|Breakfast was buffet, and fresh and fast.||We are happy to come back,...
Read moreI went to this hotel as part of a prebooked tour group, so it was booked by the tour company and not by me. The room was INCREDIBLY small, even by Japanese hotel standards, where the rooms are a lot smaller than we are accustomed to in Australia. On their website it is shown as a Single Room. Note that you have to specify a non smoking room. I did but it still smelled of smoke. I had paid a single supplement to my tour organiser so I was very disappointed with this room. I am 5 ft 7 or about 170 cm and my feet were right at the end of the narrow bed. The carpet was greasy, stained with black patches and very dirty. Upon returning to my room after my first day out, my room wasnt made up. I asked for the room to be made up while I went out for dinner. It wasnt. On my second morning I advised the concierge that my room hadnt been made up and asked that it be made up during the day while I was out. I was told it would be. It wasnt. It also wasnt made up on the third day. Not even an emptying of the rubbish bin. The breakfast buffet provided forks, spoons and chop sticks but no knives. I asked for a knife to spread butter on my toast and I was offered a wooden coffee stirrer stick. On the third morning the only non Asian breakfast items were Japanese Style Scrambled eggs ( barely semi set and served cold) or pancakes but the pancake machine was empty. An attendant attempted to refill the pancake machine with no luck. There wasnt any toast available that morning as the bread tray adjacent to the toaster was empty and not refilled. Likewise the empty fruit dishes were not refilled. Only the Asian dishes were refilled on a regular basis. This was not at the end of breakfast service but quite early. |The only saving grace for this hotel is that it is directly across the road from Kyoto main Train Station and next door to a 7/11 and a department store. |However I did return to Kyoto about a fortnight later, with another tour company, and stayed in a much better hotel, about 300 metres further from the train station called, the Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachi Jo and while a bit dearer it was not that much more for a very much superior room. Sadly Keihan Grande Hotel Kyoto was without doubt the worst hotel I stayed at in my 26 days in Japan, and it was noticeably so, as the room was so small and so dirty compared to anything else I stayed at in Japan. Absolutely I cannot recommend this hotel. Travelled March...
Read moreClose to the station. It’s super close just right across 1 street from Kyoto station. There is East exit from Kyoto Station that very close to where the hotel is.
If you’re leaving, this hotel is right next to Limousine shuttle bus to take you to airport for cheaper than taxi. This hotel is So so so convenient. And it connects to 7-11 store and to the Avanti mall where there is Don Quijote.
Check in is very easy.
FYI: Kyoto city charges ¥200 per person per day on top of the room fee.
Next to Avanti mall which has shopping and McDonald's downstairs. 2nd floor is Don Quijote - Kyoto Avanti.
There's a small 7/11 next to hotel.
They clean room every day with new towels, new robe, and they make your bed and vacuum your floor.
There is a mini fridge. There is a microwave in the odd floors of 5, 7, 9, 11 floors. In the same odd floors there is also laundry, washer and dry. For the laundry you have to use only ¥100 coins if you use other coins, they do not give money back. What's the time is very hard to use it because people are waiting to use the laundry. You have to wait before someone else's laundry finishes so you can be next in line.
There are hotel amenities you can get for free in the lobby like toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, body towel, teas, coffee, shaver, etc.
Lots of plug outlets in the room.
Best thing is that the room is pretty big compared to other hotel rooms that I've stayed in. There's actually space to open luggage if you have multiple luggage's. Make sure this is the last stop of your trip. This is the best hotel to re-organize your luggage because of the space in your room.
Around the Kyoto station there are a lot of shopping areas so you can buy stuff before you leave if this is the last place you're going to be...
