Sweets Cafe Emman Mochi Kyoto Arashiyama — Local services in Kyoto

After an early morning visit to Tenryu-ji Temple and the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Kyoto, we stopped by a foot bath café in the same building to rest our tired feet — and then found this traditional mochi tea house!

We already knew it had great reviews, so we came in with high expectations. There aren’t many seats, which makes it feel cozy, and the traditional vibe adds to the charm.

Since we had walked for quite a while, we didn’t really have the energy to sit and savor tea and mochi, so we ordered a cold ice cream shake instead... and wow.

Found this nice lil' cafe off the main Arashiyama tourist road. First time trying their specialty dessert, a type of mochi called hinerimochi, in different flavours. They had a 4 flavour tasting set, which was perfect just after lunch. The bite was softer than regular mochi, but less chewy. We debated going to any random matcha place or looking up a place and it was well worth looking up a place and coming! Tucked slightly off the main street, the interior is cute and peaceful.
