I had high expectations for trying wagyu steak in Kyoto, especially given all the hype around its tenderness and flavor. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short.
To start, the taste just wasn’t what I expected. The steak lacked the rich, melt-in-your-mouth quality that wagyu is known for. It was oily rather than buttery, and the flavor felt flat. For the high price I paid, I expected something truly special — but it honestly tasted no better (and in some ways worse) than a standard steak.
What made it even more frustrating was the price. As someone seeking halal options, I understand that sourcing halal wagyu might come at a premium, but the cost felt excessive — bordering on unreasonable. The portion size was small, and nothing about the presentation or side dishes helped justify the steep bill.
The restaurant itself had a nice setting, but that wasn’t enough to make up for the lackluster food and inflated prices. I left feeling disappointed and like I had overpaid for a tourist trap experience rather than a true taste of Kyoto’s culinary excellence.

Read moreFirst of all the service was top tier! We are foreigners and they were very patient with us. The food was DELICIOUS and cooked right in front of us! I got the wagu sandwich with cheese and my husband got it without. It was so yummy! The cheese does add more grease so if you want less mess do no cheese. It is seasoned well. The drinks are very good as well. I got blueberry lemonade and my husband got a green apple drink I believe. But I tasted both and both are yummy. You also have the option to add ice cream on top.l, we did not. The music was amazing. They play R&B, neosoul and jazz types of songs. When we walked in they were playing Charlie Wilson, an instant vibe! Everything updated including the bathroom is very, very clean! 10/10 experience. It is a little pricey but worth it! You. An also charge your...
Read moreWe came here due to Insta Hype and the Sandwich was yummy! But the portions are pretty small. It is not a two-slices toast what you would assume. It's just one slice Cut in half. If you know it, then it will be less disppointing. Ratio between portionsize and money was mediocre. Service was not as friendly as you are used to in Japan. When we arrived, nobody came. They cannot speak well english. While waiting for our food, they offered us a free drink if we rate the restaurant. but we haven't eaten yet. She was very eager to have a rating on google before we eat - I do not know why since the food was pretty good. In the end, we did not get a drink since I started rating after...
