We stayed in Uronza guesthouse for five nights in March 2013. The architecture and interior design are stunning. The owner Hidi maintains his guesthouse very well and keeps the place exceptionally clean. He helped us by providing local information & was interesting to talk to as he has travelled extensively himself. On our booking in he explained some house rules which focused on ensuring a peaceful stay for everyone. For example there are no large group bookings. The room partitions mean sound travels easily and so guests are asked to be respectful and mindful of this. Guests are asked to be out in the middle of the day to allow time for cleaning. There are no outside shoes to be worn inside etc.. These house rules were all fair and caused us no issue. As a result of these standards the whole guesthouse has a serene feel and was a great place to relax. We were fortunate to experience staying in this traditional guesthouse whilst exploring the delightful city of Kyoto & would recommend it wholeheartedly. This guesthouse...
Read moreI've been to Japan twice but never had I experience tatami bed before. Uronza gave me the opportunity to try tatami bed when I visited in early April. The weather that time was still cold and I wore my winter jacket each time I went to the toilets and baths (as the toilets and baths are not connected to the rooms) - which is an unforgettable experience for me. The toilets and baths are superbly clean and odorless and way better than the bathroom of the inn I stayed in Osaka. ||||Did I mention that you have to make your own bed? The owner gave us a paper instruction on how to place the bedsheets on which we gladly followed. We were so excited in fact when we put on the bedsheets, haha!||||But you got to remember to remove the bedsheets upon check-out. ||||We stayed 2 nights there and we felt reluctant to leave as it was by far the uniquest experience we've gotten. We have only good things to say for Uronza, nothing bad. Awesome...
Read moreWe stay 6nights in this lovely place during Sakura season. The location is great and the place is very very clean. The room is basic but after the whole day walking or cycling in Kyoto, it is a warm and cozy room to sleep. Shower is good and modern. Bathroom is the cleanest I have ever seen in my life. It spotless clean place. We can store the food we buy in the refrigerator and cook on our own. If you like to experience the local bath culture, the owner also sell the discounted tickets for nearby public bath. It is a must do culture thing if you don't mind take a bath in front of others. There is also bicycle for rent at a very reasonable price. I will suggest to cycle around the city if the weather is good. You will see much more than by walking. Since they have no air con, spring and fall are the best season to stay here. This is the only place I will stay next...
