Booked this for 3 nights.
Arrival: we arrived 3 hours before check in, and although there was no concierge, we were able to use the tablet to call an employee to come store our luggage.
Location: location is alright. We had just arrived from a stay in Tokyo and compared to that, this hotel was a little further of a walk to the train lines. Nishki market and the main shopping area is about 20-25 minute walk. So if you prefer to be closer to a central area with more food and shopping, find a hotel closer. However there is a 7/11 outside of the hotel entrance and other food options near by- however most of the places we wanted to eat at always were in the central shopping area.
Rooms: your standard rooms (small but typical for Japan). All the toiletries (toothbrush, slippers, hair combs etc) are self serve from the lobby. So you can grab what you need and restock as often as you like. Beds are not very comfortable. Out of the 4 hotels we stayed in Japan, this was the least comfy bed. Only 1 pillow per bed provided. Free coffee in lobby.
Laundry: we were about mid way through our trip and wanted to do laundry. However, for a hotel that size there are only 2 washers and 2 dryers. We tried to do our laundry one evening and ended up waiting an hour to get a machine and then a couple hours to get access for the dryer. Machine takes 30 minutes and auto dispenses the soap, dryer takes 30 minutes. However, many people are needing to dry their clothes for over an hour, as the 30 minutes does not dry them entirely. We just did the 30 min dry and hung our clothes in the room to air dry as it was. We didn’t realize our next hotel also had laundry, in that case I would have just waited to do laundry there instead.
Dining hall/ general room: there was a public space within the hotel with tables and chairs. We did not use this space, other than when waiting for our laundry. However, if traveling with a group this would be a good place to hang out or eat if you are picking up take out as rooms can be cramped with...
Read moreI stayed at your hotel for 4 nights in room 312. I am a regular visitor to Kyoto, this is my 3rd time here. I have never experienced a situation like this. When my wife and I left the room on the morning of May 28, we closed the door as usual. When we returned in the evening, we had the misfortune to find our door wide open. There were no employees inside. We immediately called an employee who took photos of the incident and provided no solution. We mentioned to him our fear regarding the security of our room and who could now be found there. A dishonest person could have entered our room, a thief or simply a dishonest person who gets into our sheets and has access to our privacy. We suggested that we change rooms because my wife was having an anxiety attack. She didn't want to sleep in this place anymore.
After changing rooms, to our surprise, we were greeted by a dirty room that clearly should not receive guests. There were blood on the towels, a duvet completely stained with a brown organic liquid, a wall decorated with goo, a dirty sink, a vent clogged with dust. The room smelled bad because of the carpet. See photos below. We asked several times to speak to a manager and all employees refused us access to this manager. Only at check out time (a Japanese woman) agreed to give us your contact details. The only commercial gesture that was made towards us was an apology without real compensation. It’s not normal to not be able to speak with a manager for more than 48 hours. This is unacceptable. We have never experienced a similar situation. It’s excruciating to leave a room open all day in a hotel welcoming more than 300 people.
We expect from you a response and a solution to what...
Read moreLovely hotel, excellent location with a 7-11 downstairs and 2xFamily Marts nearby within walking distance. A Sukiya (local chain of fast Japanese food restaurants) was opposite the hotel serving cheap eats but lovely, delicious and filling bowls of rice with meat/eel toppings. You can have food delivered to the hotel and there is adining area with a microwave to eat in and heat up shop bought food. Coin operated laundry facilities are on-site but there are only 2 washing machines and dryer available (laundry detergent automatically added). Bus stops to Kyoto station and to other attractions/local sights are within minutes walk from hotel. Bus 9 and 50 take you directly from the station to the door of the hotel. (¥230 single trip). The hotel had an efficient system of checking in with a QR code, staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, the hotel was clean and the rooms were quite large for Japan’s standard. The shower and toilet were amazing! Coffee and tea/hot water were provided all day, umbrellas are lent out to you for rainy days, the front desk had unlimited supply of amenities for you to take away (toothbrush/shower caps/face cream etc) and lots of freshly laundered night shirts to wear! Happy to store your bags at check out to finish exploring the city! One (very mild) down side is that the beds are the size of either a slightly large(er) single bed or a small(er) double bed, so twin rooms sleeping 4 may be slightly difficult but for families with smaller children, it was fine. Overall, a wonderful stay and would be very happy...
