During our 8-day and 7-night free trip to Kansai, our final destination was Kyoto. Before the trip, we referred to online reviews and chose to stay at the high-value Richmond Hotel Premier Kyoto Shijo. This hotel, which was newly completed in March 2022, wasn't very popular at the time and didn't have many recommendations from travel experts.||||Richmond Hotel Premier Kyoto Shijo||Booked through Agoda for only HKD 1578 for a 2-night stay.||||Standard Room (2 beds) - Non-smoking||Two small double beds||Room size: 26 square meters / 280 square feet||View: City view||Free access to the lounge||||The hotel is located in the Shijo Karasuma area of Kyoto. It takes about 7-10 minutes on foot to reach it from Exit 24 of Shijo Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Line or Karasuma Station on the Keihan Electric Railway. Although it's a bit far from the subway station, there is a bus stop near the hotel, which is relatively convenient.||||The hotel lobby is on the 3rd floor, and there is a large supermarket called LIFE in the basement, which is very convenient! Even if the weather is bad, there's no need to worry about getting wet while buying food. Take the elevator from the less crowded exit next to it to the hotel lobby on the 3rd floor to check-in.||||🌟Stylish and Spacious Hotel Lobby🌟||Upon reaching the 3rd floor, the feeling is completely different from the hotel's underground entrance. The design is stylish and the lobby is comfortable and spacious, with self-check-in kiosks available. However, since it was our first stay at Richmond Hotel, we chose to have the hotel staff assist us with the check-in process, and they even kindly offered a Welcome Drink (sake). Additionally, it's worth mentioning that during the stay in Kyoto, an accommodation tax of 200 yen per person per night is required. We stayed for two nights, so the total tax was 800 yen.||||🌟Spacious and Comfortable Rooms🌟||As a typical Japanese hotel, Richmond Hotel Premier Kyoto Shijo is clean and comfortable, with an air purifier in the room. Just like the hotels in Osaka, even with two suitcases open, there is still plenty of space to move around (even with three suitcases open, there is still ample space). What surprised us was that the two small double beds in the room were actually Simmons beds, extremely comfortable with just the right firmness, and the hotel's pajamas were soft and comfortable too! The bathroom is a separate shower and bath area, and they provide free bath salts, making it very comfortable to take a bath in the room!||||🌟Stylish Room Design🌟||The lighting design is very comfortable, with different modes to choose from, and it also comes with a remote control for the lights, allowing you to adjust the lighting from bed, ensuring a peaceful sleep. It's very thoughtful!||||🌟Free Access to the Lounge🌟||Although it wasn't our first time enjoying a hotel lounge, Richmond Hotel Premier Kyoto Shijo's lounge is definitely one of the best! From 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM, they provide an unlimited selection of snacks, alcoholic beverages, coffee, and desserts, with plenty of choices. On the second day in Kyoto, when it was raining heavily, we chose to go back to the hotel's lounge, leisurely enjoying the garden view while watching Netflix and savoring red and white wine, whiskey, snacks, and more! This definitely added to the hotel's value for money!||||In addition, the hotel provides self-service laundry facilities, which are essential during summer trips! Especially in Japan's summer, which is hotter than Hong Kong, having laundry facilities reduces the amount of clothing you need to carry and avoids keeping odors in...

Overall, I am delighted and completely satisfied with my stay. One notable feature of the hotel is its stunning lobby, which boasts an open design adorned with lush greenery. It creates a beautiful and refreshing ambiance upon arrival. The staff members were consistently helpful and friendly throughout my stay, providing excellent service.

One of the hotel's standout advantages is its convenient location. There are numerous amenities in close proximity, including supermarkets, convenience stores, and restaurants. This makes it incredibly convenient for guests to access essential services and enjoy a variety of dining options nearby. However, it is worth mentioning that the hotel itself is not situated close to a subway station. Despite this, it only takes a 10-15 minute walk to reach the bustling shopping area. Once you become familiar with the Kyoto area, the hotel's location proves to be quite advantageous.

One aspect that truly enhanced my experience was the exceptional comfort of the bed and pillows. They provided the perfect balance of support and softness, ensuring that I had a restful and rejuvenating sleep each night. The quality of the bedding greatly contributed to my overall satisfaction with the stay.

Furthermore, I must highlight the breakfast experience at the hotel. It was truly marvelous and delicious. The selection of dishes was extensive, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. The flavors were exquisite, and the presentation was impeccable. I highly recommend indulging in the hotel's breakfast during your stay.

In conclusion, I am genuinely happy with my stay at the hotel. The beautiful lobby, helpful staff, convenient nearby amenities, comfortable bed, and delightful breakfast all contributed to a memorable experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to others seeking an enjoyable...

The location could not be found easily by the GPS installed in the car. When we arrived at the hotel, there was a carpark on the lower floors, which seemed to be very convenient for driving visitors like me. However, the front desk staff told me that the carpark did not operated by them and the charge was quite expensive. Besides, the map code of the hotel provided by the staff was incorrect. Recommendations were given immediately with a clear map illustrating the carpark nearby. At last, I used the carpark opposite the hotel. I stayed there for two nights. The housekeeping staff had just given new towels without collecting the used towels. Bottled water was also placed on the desk on the second day. But the room did not appear as being cleaned. The bathroom was divided into two rooms, with the washing basin in the entryway, and the design was good for two or more travellers sharing the room. A curtain was installed to separate this area from the beds and lessened the sound and light disturbance to some extent. A sliding door would be better. The rubbish bin in the toilet was very small. The TV was very sizable. The number of electricity sockets was well enough. Free drinks were offered to the guests in the lobby from the afternoon till 9 pm, however, this benefit could not be enjoyed because we travelled outside for sightseeing during the daytime. Luckily, the business hours of the supermarket on the ground level were long. Coffee shop and convenience store was within walking distance. The location was in the middle of the Kyoto, shortened the time for travelling to all sightseeing points.
