WAYFARER Shin — Hotel in Kyoto

I stayed for 3 nights in a group of 4 people in their room with 2 beds.

The room was clean, I found a small stain on the back of my pillow but nothing else. It was quite spacious, enough for 2 large suitcases and 1 medium suitcase opened with little to no space for walking.

The bathroom was alright, small and similar to those of other Japanese budget hotel/Airbnb rooms. It can be damp after 3 nights especially given no cleaning in between as our room wasn’t scheduled for cleaning.

Amenities (towels, bathrobes, toothbrushes, tea and coffee) are provided in the lobby and on each floor, free for anyone to take. It was convenient but sometimes the refilling of new towels need to be a bit faster. I also found a stain on the towel.

Do not expect any service, as there are only receptionists and the cleaning service are external contractors (not hotel staff), so I couldn’t comment on that part.

The location was not very close to any bus/train station and minimarkets/konbinis, you had to walk for 4-5 minutes to reach it. Considering that the central/crowded part of Kyoto is not that big, it required quite some walking to reach places. Our group love walking but felt that it would feel much better if it was closer to the train station when we arrived.

WAYFARER Shin: Absolut empfehlenswert! Die Zimmer im WAYFARER Shin sind unglaublich großzügig geschnitten, sodass man sie problemlos zu viert nutzen könnte. Besonders positiv hervorzuheben sind die hervorragenden Annehmlichkeiten, die erfreulicherweise nicht in Plastik verpackt waren – ein toller Beitrag zur Nachhaltigkeit! Die Lage des Hotels ist super praktisch: eine Wäscherei befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe, und auch FamilyMart sowie 7-Eleven sind schnell zu erreichen. Die Anbindung an den öffentlichen Nahverkehr ist ebenfalls sehr gut. Vom Bahnhof Kyoto Main Station sind es lediglich zwei U-Bahn-Stationen, und auch der Weg von der Metro zum Hotel ist bequem zu Fuß zu bewältigen. Das Personal ist überaus freundlich und hilfsbereit. Dank der zentralen Lage lassen sich viele Sehenswürdigkeiten und Bereiche der Stadt sehr einfach zu Fuß erkunden. Ein weiterer großer Pluspunkt ist das hervorragende Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Für den gebotenen Preis erhält man nicht nur ein riesiges Zimmer, sondern auch ein modernes und top ausgestattetes Badezimmer. Einziger kleiner Minuspunkt nach längerem Suchen ist das etwas langsame Wi-Fi. Für einfache Arbeiten reicht es jedoch aus.
