WEBASE HOTEL (Kyoto)
A new hotel in Kyoto with a new fresh outlook mixing hotel, hostel with a modern artistic approach to providing budget accommodation in Kyoto. Located not far from several train stations with a 10 minute walk and bus stops within 2 minutes from the shijo area.
We entered early in the morning knowing we couldn't check in until later in the afternoon so as we entered the staff immediately informed us to leave our bags in the bag storage area in the basement. When you see the basement it is pretty modern with a different approach to offering guests exactly what they need. A bag storage area with levels and locks amazing to see something new.
We left for the city and explored some of the food areas like nishiki then returned in the afternoon to check in. On arrival they greeted us and checked us in which was easy and fast by an Argentine member of staff which was great to see as most hotels have locals. My partner is from Spain so she enjoyed conversing in Spanish.
Our room was another bunk bed experience which we don't mind as we always book late and without much notice. Very cozy with Aircon and good connections for devices.
Washrooms were available on each floor but no showers as they were located on the basement for everyone. I was surprised to see this as the hotel has been designed for travelers and has such a great variety of amenities but only 1 shower room for the whole place, well 1 X female and 1 X male. When shower area is busy it can be a long wait or get a shower really early or late at night.
The breakfast was an arrangement of breads with toasting machines, coffee, tea and juices with a kallogs type cereal. Very simple and nice to offer. They also have special nights where you can enjoy free food served by the hotel, on this occasion it was soba night with free zone for everyone, great value and appreciated by everyone.
The main reception and waiting area was really nice and modern with microwaves and tea/coffee available for everyone. My only point was there wasn't enough seating area for guests especially at breakfast and late evening. Tourists don't bother thinking about other guests and occupy a table for the whole morning without thinking that other guests want to enjoy breakfast too so maybe a couple of signs nice and polite ones asking guests to think about other guests during the busy breakfast period.
The basement had a smoking room, shower facilities, bag storage, laundry and toilets.
Recommendations We enjoyed our stay the rooms were comfortable and easy access to all of the trains around you including lots of food in the area. Family mart and Lawson's on the doorstep for quick bites.
Top tip. Take a double room and enjoy an early breakfast before the hoards get their and shower early or late.

Read moreI spent three nights here and enjoyed my stay.||The staff are friendly and the hostel is in a decent location for exploring the city. Due the main sites of the city being spread all over expect to have to take public transport to visit most places of interest. ||I spent my time here in one of the shared dormitories. The dorm room is entered via swiping a card to enter, as is the hostel after 11pm. There are 12 beds in the dorm, all beds are boxed in for privacy with a curtain to completely enclose yourself. The bed/cabin has two USB ports, handy for charging devices and one plug socket. There is also a safe for storing valuables. In the dorm room there are also some wash hand basins. Towels and bedding are supplied by the hostel. The toilets are just outside the dorm room. There isn’t much storage room inside the dorm. Expect to live out your backpack/suitcase.||The showers are on the basement floor. Separate shower rooms for men and women. There were plenty of short cubicles, and I never encountered any issues with availability. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are all supplied in the shower cubicles.||There are also laundry facilities in the basement floor. Three washers and three dryers. Keep those 100 ten coins handy if you want to use them.||Luggage storage is also available on the basement floor. If you arrive early, or want to leave your bags for a few hours after checkout then you can safely store them here.||The ground floor has a nice communal room that you can use at any time. Breakfast is served here between 7am and 10am. The breakfast options are simple, but good for a budget option like this. Tea, coffee, fruit juices, cornflakes, a couple of bread options, jams, boiled eggs, cheese slices and ham were on offer.||The hostel has a quiet policy after 11pm, which is great for getting a decent sleep. I was in the dorm room on the ground floor, and even with the reception and communal room on the floor there was no noise pollution in the dorm.||All in this is a clean, friendly, well run hostel. A very good budget option from which to...
