Room: there were 3 of us with the sofa bed set up. Unlike most sofa beds which are soft and uncomfortable, this is a proper bed and comfortable. The size is def not typical Japanese rooms, spacious with a much needed corner kitchenette. Great to have enough hangers for once! Bathroom also have enough hooks for all towels. Hooks for your extras are available on the wall outside too which is perfect , rather than having to hang it on chairs. Housekeeping: a big shoutout to housekeeping, they are a mix of locals and foreign workers but they have been trained with the utmost standard. Everything is clean, dust free and done with the kind of meticulous and thoughtful thinking only very good training can entail. All toiletries are topped up everyday so that you don't have to worry whether you have enough. I always bring my own toiletries but Citadines provides excellent quality spa shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. One less thing to pack! Towels are clean and crisp and smells fresh. Sorry we had to change everyday as it's winter and it tends to stay wet . Facilities: the much needed washer dryer, the reason many opt for AIR BNB is available , about 7units of each and so far I never had to wait to load in laundry as everyone was responsible enough to pick up when they are done . ¥400 for every half hr of dryer or washer. Playroom for little ones is well kept and clean. Good for rainy days. There is a shared pantry upstairs with great coffee and a shared fridge. I see ppl working or having small meetings there . Water dispenser on each floor I believe, taking away another common habit I normally have, buying tons of water and lugging ot back. Location: not door step Namba hence minus the noise. My bunioned feet had no issue walking that 8 min to everything . Kuroumon market 2 min away. Airport nankai express is 8 min away on a clear day. Beware for those who shopped like crazy, there's no lift nor escalator up to the platform. Nearly died there. Why such a long review? I'm impressed and I am thankful that such a wonderful place like citadines and it's crew still exists. I hope that guests reciprocate by keeping it that way. What a wonderful place! Well done citadines, and the people that...
Read moreThe hotel is located in a very nice building (Takashimaya building). Impressive lobby, also hosts a shop and a restaurant as well as a tea and bar space. The bar closes very early, which is not a big issue as there are so many places just 2 - 5 minutes by foot. The service is very good, it may take sometimes a few moments at the reception as there can be many people in front of you, but it's still good. The staff is helpful, always nice and respectful. They explain to you how to get around, where to do things (like buying IC cards or Shinkansen tickets), they send your luggage ahead so you don't have to carry everything with you. So we discovered no negatives with the service. Personally, it is a bit strange that you cannot check-in earlier than 3pm and have to check-out by 11am (but these rules we noticed all over Japan afterwards). So I see this as neither positive nor negative, but bugging. The location is very recommended for any type of vacation. It's easy to get around, it's crowded and yet not that you feel like in the middle of a stampede. Many possible shops, bars, restaurants are very close. The namba station is approx 5 to 10 minutes by foot and opens the wide world to you. Taxis are always nearby or are already waiting in front. Dotonbori is accessible in 15 minutes by foot, and you never have to run, just easy going. It's easy to get to the castle, the bar area (next to Tsutenkaku), dotonbori, umeda, and so on. But without having like a billion tourists directly in front of your hotel as you get when sleeping near dotonbori or namba. The room was sufficient in size, not huge not small. It had a desk, a small sofa, air purifier, air con, and a small closet with a safe. The beds are very nice, good pillows and mattresses so you can rest. The bathroom is equipped with everything you need, you can always get fresh towels. The hotel offers a water dispenser and ice machine (I think on every floor; free of charge) and there are vending machines so you can also grab...
Read moreFor a four-star establishment, Citadines Namba Osaka has truly lived up to expectations. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. We needed assistance with luggage transfers, and the front desk team kindly handled all the paperwork for us. As I write this, our luggage is still in transit with Yamato, so we’ll see how their service holds up—though it’s worth noting they operate independently of the hotel. Thankfully, we have AirTags to track our bags along the way.
We booked an executive room on the 7th floor, and it has been a great choice. The space is generous, well-ventilated, and equipped with air conditioning and a humidifier if needed. The room also features a large fridge and a mini kitchenette, making it feel like a comfortable studio apartment. We requested a crib for our toddler (at a very reasonable additional cost), and it’s spacious enough for him. Housekeeping services the room daily, keeping everything fresh.
The bathroom is compact but perfectly functional, featuring both a shower and a bathtub, which has been particularly helpful for bathing our little one. The shower has excellent water pressure and precise temperature control. While we haven’t used it much, the in-room TV is a good size.
The hotel’s location is excellent—Dotonbori is just a short walk away, along with other key attractions like Namba Yasaka Shrine. Each floor offers free water dispensers and paid vending machines, which is a thoughtful touch. The 5th floor has a spacious kids’ soft playroom and a convenient laundry facility, both of which have been incredibly useful during our stay.
If I had one minor criticism, it would be that the bed is a bit firmer than I prefer. However, that’s a personal preference and doesn’t take away from the overall experience. If we visit Osaka again, I would absolutely consider staying here.
Thank you, Citadines Namba Osaka, for a...
