Matsutake — Restaurant in Osaka

Opens early for breakfast and so is a good option if you want an alternative to a konbini or gyudon chain.

It's quite a cozy place with good prices and, importantly, prohibits smoking.

I went in for a late breakfast at 9am and there was only one other patron (local) so seating was easy.

Pictured is the breakfast menu which apparently comes free with either coffee, tea, or juice. I ordered the pancake which I liked quite a bit. There is also an option for two pieces of pancake, but I found the one piece order filling enough.

There is free wifi and a toilet.

Kindly note that the floor is not totally flat (there are "levels" for lack of a better term), and seating at the ground level is limited (about eight people) so those with mobility issues may have difficulty if it's...

Came here around 10am for some quick morning bites and had some coffee and the hot cakes.

Hot cakes were definitely big but not fluffy, which wasn't a bad thing. They were sweet but a little bland, though the whipped cream and maple syrup they gave us definitely made it.

Prices were a bit on the higher side compared to what you can get for more food elsewhere, but the aesthetic was nice and I'd probably come back to try out all the little deserts.

Loved the stained glass windows and feel of the place, all the staff were really nice too!

My husband and I with our 2 little ones were on our last day in Japan and wanted to find something special. We came upon this place and instantly it felt like we stepped into a studio ghibli film. The staff was welcoming and patient with our minimal japanese. The atmosphere was quiet and calm and the the food was amazing. The pancakes were fluffy and the coffee was delicious.
