J-Ship Osaka Namba is an affordable, conveniently located capsule hotel if you're staying in Osaka. Their website nearly covers all details you'll need to know before you book, but some minor details and my experiences will be detailed below. Service: I originally booked a two night stay on a third party website, but due to last minute changes in my itinerary I needed it extended to five nights. They were very accommodating and able to change it without any trouble. Bedding: The bedding provided in the capsule room is not as padded as I'm used to (compared to other capsule hotels), but it was comfy enough. However, if you are the kind of sleeper that needs bedding with a lot of cushion, please book their deluxe cabin instead. Showers: The women's locker and bathroom area is fairly spacious, but please keep in mind that there is only one shower room. If you are not comfortable using the communal women's bath, I would recommend using the shower during off-peak hours to lessen the possibility of waiting for someone to finish up in the one shower room available. Amenities: One of the things I appreciated was that L size sleepwear was provided in the women's lounge area (the pajamas given are free size, but my size 16 waist was not having it lol). It's nice not having to walk all the way down to the front desk to ask for that. This is not a complaint, but just a heads up: while nearly all amenities are included (with towels and sleepwear changed out daily), a wash cloth isn't provided. Make sure to pick one up at OCAT's Daiso or the Family Mart nearby if you need it. Overall: I had a really enjoyable experience staying at J-Ship, and I'd love to stay here again the next time I find myself in Osaka!

Needed a place to stay as had a 2 day break in Japan. Always knew of the capsule hotels but was always unsure and apprehensive. Have to say, this was exactly how I hoped it would have been and was perfect for me. I was up early from around 7:30am and didn't return till early evening around 9:30pm. The place was extremely clean and well organized. If you're not very good at Japanese, I wouldn't be too worried as the receptionists were all very welcoming, friendly and could understand English. Shoes off as you come in and put in locker. Give key to reception, who then as a how to guide for you to read. Gives you capsule number which is also locker number with key. Bathroom towels big and small provided, with toothpaste, toothbrush, razer, flip flops and pyjamas. Everything you need! Cabins can be on 3rd or 4th floor. 3rd is where the onsen is. Everyone there whilst I stayed was very quiet which was great for me. No socializing , loud talking, facetime, music, Whatsapp going off etc. Lockers on 3rd, toilets on voth Onsen had 2 people at most whilst I was there. Beds were comfy, good airflow in the cabin I had. I had a softer pillow. Overall, exactly what I needed. A spotless clean comfy place to wash and go bed, rest and ready for the next day of exploration!!

Really nice place to stay. The women’s floor had beautiful flower decorations and the whole place was very clean. The sleeping area was quiet at all times - I think this was helped by the locker area being separate (no one going through bags when you’re trying to sleep), and there seemed to be more solo / respectful travellers that you would typically get at a hostel (at least while I was there). You can leave your luggage in advance and they have 24h reception. Staff spoke English and were helpful. They even allow you to access the dining area if you are early for your check in. The place was a little hard to find - have to follow the walking paths between the buildings (they are marked as green on Google maps). They provide towels, face cloths and night clothes (or something like that). There is some charge for additional items. They also provide slippers (shoes off!) and all standard hotel amenities. A few things to note so you aren’t surprised: Bathing is communal - traditional Japanese style bath where everyone is nude together. Just like any onsen. There is a single private shower for the floor if that is a problem, but you may have to wait some time. They clean 10am - 5pm so I don’t think you can access your room / locker - plan accordingly If you are on the top floor it can be a little big of effort to climb up - probably fine for most, but I can imagine some people may struggle You have to lock your shoes in a locker at reception, then give the key to the reception staff in exchange for your luggage locker key when you are in the accommodation, then exchange back for the shoe locker key when you leave. Is a bit of a confusing system but works fine since reception is open 24/7 Would definitely stay here again. Would give 5 stars but the limited access is a...
