Stayed in the spacious King room last autumn with kids, was looking forward to staying here for our trip’s last leg but we left with mixed feelings.||Checking in was through machines by the “front desk”, where you basically need to do what check in staff would normally do for you (key in your names, details, scan your passports, pay the extra accommodation tax fees). Odd that the staff is there to assist you, but you need to do it all yourself, so the first impression you’d have with the hotel is makes it impersonal. Lobby staff were generally nonchalant. ||The King room was the most spacious room we’ve had in Japan for its price category with room amenities you’d typically see in condotels- having a small kitchen, bar seating for two for meals, and even its own coin laundry machine. Dual sinks, spacious toilet and bath. Notably when we arrived the bottled soap dispensers were just half filled, staff didn’t even bother to refill them for us as next guests. Large smart TV. Enough space for large suitcases and to generally move around. While the hotel was rather new, the room didn’t feel fully clean somehow with some noticeable stains or dust here and there, flooring that felt uncleaned, and also lint with the beddings. The bed was just okay, though the headboard was made of hard granite like material with an edge, so be cautious lying down or with kids.||The housekeeping staff enter the rooms for some basic cleaning and making up the beds (even if unrequested) but frankly it was unusual for a Japan hotel in its category, where cleaning is more often times requested than standard service.||Common areas had sometimes empty soap and alcohol dispensers (quite unusual in Japan). The scent of the cleaning staff can sometimes whiff along the hallways during busy housekeeping hours (which I don’t mind but might be worth mentioning). The modern-industrial feel somehow makes it feel more less clean somehow. Lobby area had adequate seating for multiple guests, occasionally with busy guests figuring out the check in process. The free drinks were a good touch though had limited hours.||Conveniently a Lawson just along the Namba Parks main entrance of the hotel. Same row as Lawson is also a very good ramen place that closes late, make sure to try it! The property is still quite chore of a walk especially going to the Namba station subways or main Dotonbori area, maybe at least 20 mins casual walk, while around 10 mins to the Nankai airport station. The main access is via the nice Namba Parks mall 2nd floor walkway, so slightly more convenient than walking at the street level although portions of the area were uncovered. It was far enough from the Namba subways and underground paths that we often considered taking a taxi in between (as we had kids, on tiring days of walking elsewhere sightseeing). The hotel does have ground level access if you’d need to travel by land, but on a rather isolated street area.||Overall we wanted to like it for what it had to offer, but it felt short after our 4 night stay considering the details I mentioned. In the end we felt more satisfied with Hotel Gracery nearby where we stayed at a few days prior that was a smaller property with smaller rooms, but felt cleaner and...
Read moreThis is our first time staying at this property for 9 nights and we were very pleased with the service and amenities. Staff is wonderful and always ready to accommodate very efficiently.
Our family room for the 3 of us was wonderful…2 tvs; 4 very comfortable beds; table with 4 stools; 1 round table with a chair and 2 settees. The fridge is small with a microwave; kettle; Keuring coffee machine with decaf coffee pods; and pots/pans with cutlery and dishes. A little sponge, dish detergent, and paper towels are provided. Unfortunately there is no toaster at all. Everyday we used eco clean….change towels and throw out garbage and they also replenish 2 litres of water for us. Every 5 days, we asked for full service for room to be vacuumed, washroom washed, and bed linen changed.
Our room faces the parking lot and other buildings but we do not need views when in Osaka but other rooms can see into our room so must draw curtains. The room is quiet and you can’t hear any of the nearby trains.
Washroom has 2 double sinks; toilet separated from the bathroom and there is even a closet where you can put your bags and hang your clothes.
Right by the bed are sockets and usb sockets which are convenient and many of the room lights, AC, and TV are all electronically controlled.
In our room there is a washer/dryer combo and it takes about 6 hours to wash and dry! Detergent pods are provided.
Our family room is tastefully decorated and the wall colours are modern. There are also blackout drapes along with sheers.
On the 2nd floor where the front desk is are 2 coffee stations with self serve Starbucks coffee, lattes, hot chocolate, and espresso. Beside it is also a juice and soda pop station. Both open from 6 to 11am and then from 3 to 11pm again. The coffee is excellent! such convenience for the guests.
We did not have their breakfast downstairs on 1st floor as it did not look very worthy of 2200 yen per person. This hotel attracts many Asian guests from China, Philippines, South Korea, along with a small % from North America. In the lobby, some guests can be very loud and forget that this is Japan that the Japanese people has great manners and decorum. Guests should remember when in Rome, do what Romans do and not behave like one is back home.
Location of the Keihan is in Namba Parks South so a little farther walk away from the centre of Namba…it is in Namba Parks keep on the 2nd level until you pass Centara Grand hotel and Lawsons at the corner. There you turn left to reach Keihan also on the 2nd floor. If you have lots of luggage in tow from the Namba station, it is quite a bit of a hike so best to forward your luggage to the hotel directly for convenience.
We had a wonderful stay at the Keihan and we thank all the wonderful staff at the front desk who are so helpful and accomodating. We hope to return to the Keihan in 2026 for another 10 nights once reservation opens up for booking.
Thank you very much to all the fantastic staff and management at Keihan...
