I stayed for 10 day sin Hotel Mikado in South Namba and it was such a good choice!!||||If you plan to stay here, make sure that you take note of the directions! I came from Kansai Airport and I took the train going to Namba Station. Get off at Shinimamiya Station and take the EAST EXIT! as you go out of the station, cross the street on the right side (stop light) and walk towards Family mart near the Police Station, the street in front of Family mart is the street of Hotel Mikado, it's about 3min walk and the hotel will be on your left side.||||OR||you can get on the Osaka Metro (subway) and get off Dobuetsun-mae station and short street on your left will take you to Hotel Mikado||||Check In is way and fast, they will give you the wifi password, they will also explain about the facilities (shower, spa etc.). The 8th floor is for women only, I think this is also the floor for private rooms, there's a toilet there so as to save you from going on other floors to use the toilet. I have used the showers on the Ground Floor and it has never been busy. ||I like that the towels, robes, and everything else is very accessible at the ground floor, you don't have to ask for it.||||If you're staying for more than 3 days then the room can be cleaned, you just have to tell them.||||The hostel is very convenient when it comes to transport. JR lines and Subway are just an easy 2-5min walk depending on which you are taking. I had a JR pass for the first 5 days I was there, so I was using the main Shinimamiya station and switched on to the Dobuetsun-mae Subway line after that. There is a Mega Donki from the East Exit of Shinimamiya, turn left and cross on the traffic light and it's on the second floor of the building, you won't miss it since the big logo is there!||||I was on an evening flight going back to Manila, and the check out at Hotel Mikado is at 10am, but if you want to check out at 1pm, you will just pay 500yen but if you want to check out arnd 4pm, then u will have to pay the full day rate for the room, I did pay the 500yen because they have someone checking in already that day and they can't extend my check out time anymore, but you can leave your luggage there and come back for it when you're ready to go.||||I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone who wants a budget friendly accommodation. Sure, there's not a lot of space in the room, but if you're not bothered with that, then try staying here. There's a mini fridge and a small table inside the room, but no chair. I've never been a good sleeper but surprisingly was really able to sleep...

ย ย ย Read moreI was on a tight budget for this trip, the Mikado hotel came up top of the budget offers on Hotels.com and because they have a sauna and traditional Japanese hot bath spa area I was very interested. All I need is a comfortable bed and quiet room, I'm not that bothered about an en suite bathroom. I had a traditional Japanese futon bed room 406 for first four nights, then changed to 702 which had a normal bed. Showers are private cubicles here and the toilets and basins area is on every floor. I found it still very private regardless of sharing with other guests. Toiletries are provided as well as the usual slippers, robes and toothbrush kits. There's a communal kitchen downstairs in front of reception where you can use the microwave and larger refrigerator if required. Teas and coffee is available during the day. The hotel is in an ideal location within a short walking distance of Shin-Imamiya station, there are direct trains to and from Kansai airport on Nankai line and Dobutsuen-Mae metro is a short stroll away and is on the Midosuji line. Tennoji Zoo is walking distance and plenty of shops and great places to eat nearby. If you're not fussed and just needing basic lodgings and easy access to public transport in Osaka, I definitely recommend this hotel. The only minor issues were that there was dust in my room along clothes hanging area so I cleaned it away, there was rather a musty smell in the second room I stayed in last two nights, so I kept the window open all day and rid of it, I expect it was from previous guest, but air conditioning and open window helped. The basins by the lockers in the hot bath changing rooms were taped off and this was disappointing, it needs fixing obviously. There is a fridge in every room which is great to keep your own food and drinks cool. There are eight floors, I think two floors is smoking allowed, so be sure to state which room type preference when booking. There are double rooms for couples or bunk bed rooms...
