Namba Udon — Local services in Osaka

Loved eating here- this is a local gem, from the hard-working staff to the colorful, somewhat gritty interior, and the location so close to Namba station and Kuromon.

I normally can’t stand udon (am a ramen person) but loved the #1 fried tofu udon bowl (¥240) for its simplicity and flavor. The sweet, savory broth served piping hot, slippery tender udon, and the sweet large tofu swollen with brothy goodness, all adorned with a shower of green onion. I added black and red chili powders from the tabletop containers and made the broth even more interesting.

The udon and soba are not freshly made. They come in individual packets and you can see the cooks cutting them open as they take the orders.
