Hardware is excellent but the hotel needs to improve on its "software" so that customers' experience can improve.
Pros: Premier Twin hotel room is big enough for small family of 3 with 3luggages. Location is convenient with two subway stations nearby n a Matsumoto Kiyoshi/ Daiso opposite the hotel. The private bath is the highlight of the hotel.
Cons:
Cleanliness of the hotel: at first point of stepping into the room upon check in, caught sight of hair from previous stayers still trapped at the corner of the bathroom door hinge. There were also marks on the bathroom wall n flooring near the bathroom that could be wiped away spotted when we checked in.
Stench of cigarettes smoke trapped in curtains and the room's hinoki bath: lingering stench of old cigarettes smoke trapped in the curtains n the room's hinoki bath and we ended up not using the bath tub in our room because of this. The hotel should consider thorough cleaning of the room's curtains and bath tub to rid the stench.
Booking made for family of 2adults plus 1child for 4nights and hotel only supplied us with 2towels by default every day. We had to request for extra towel for the 3rd person every day, which I already tried to ignore that nagging feeling that the hotel service lacked attention to details to at least match the number of towels to the number of occupants in the room for the booking. On the last night when we still had to call to request for the extra towel, the hotel staff (man, Japanese) actually said the hotel will charge us for the extra towel request going forward. Never had I ever have such a negative experience at any other hotels worldwide. We booked for 3persons n it's obvious we need 3towels. Felt like asking the staff whether he would share one towel with another family member back in his own family n if that's an acceptable level of customer service in Japanese hospitalilty.
To add, the towels had a stench like they were not cleaned/dried thoroughly as well.
Hairs still spotted on the floor after we requested for the rooms to be cleaned up when we go out during the day. The cleaning really needs to improve.
Service from staff ( surprisingly the Japanese) needs to improve.
At check in, the Japanese lady staff asked if we want our twin beds to be combined so that our young one can have more space to sleep in. We happily accepted her offer. She then mentioned she needs to check with her housekeeping colleagues if that could be done, which we understand. However, she added a remark at the back which didn't sound friendly, mentioning that we should have made the bed-combination request earlier the previous day if we prefer it. I was taken aback by surprise to hear that as we were totally unaware that the hotel can combine the twin beds for us. If we were unaware n the hotel never mentioned it to us before we checked in, how could we have made that request to the hotel prior to check-in?
Majority of the staff also didn't appear to be genuinely warm and interested in connecting with customers when they see us. It's a totally different feeling from other hotel that we stayed in...
Read moreThis was my first time in Tokyo and after looking around decided on this hotel in a quiet neighbourhood that offered a private bath in the room. I have to say we were completely blown away at our overall experience.
We booked 2 rooms- one with a bath and another one without. I had the room with the bath which was larger and fortunately had a window that faced the street. The guest in the room without a bath had their curtains fully drawn at all times because the location of their room was quite close to other buildings. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of convenient places to charge our devices.
All the amenities in the room were very well thought out. Even the minibar section felt special. There was certainly a touch of modern but with an old Japanese twist in the room.
We liked the free breakfast option in the morning where we could get pastry and coffee. When we wanted a change, we would go over to the 7-11 nearby. We had to do our laundry while staying and I found going to the La Huaran laundromat that was less than 10 minutes away the best option for us
The staff were also very friendly and willing to help. We needed some help from our translation app to convey our requests to some of the staff but it was very straightforward once they understood what we needed.
I had my hesitations booking to stay here for almost a week and questioned if we should have stayed in a more central location but in the end everything we needed was close enough, and the quietness was definitely welcome after our busy days of exploring other parts of Tokyo.
Well done Tsuki. Our stay definitely rivals the experience of other 5-star hotels we have been to. I hope that others will be able to book and enjoy their stay...
Read moreMy stay at Tsuki hotel was excellent! The outside appearance of this place was very low key, we almost missed it when we first got to the area. However, the design and amenities inside the guest room were upscale! There was a wooden bath tub which was very clean and spacious. My mom and I could easily fit in together. Although only hot bath water available instead of hot spring water, we still enjoyed the hot bath a lot. The skincare and shampoo products were all Pola branded. It is a high-end Japanese beauty brand that I really like. There was a mini bar inside the room, and all drinks were complimentary! Drinks selection included bottled water, beer, coke and Calpis soda. On top of those, there was the Nespresso mini machine along with its own branded pods. I loved using the matchine every morning during my stay.
Another important factor of my high satisfaction was the hospitalities of Tsuki. The gentleman at the reception area was very friendly, helpful and informative. On the first day we arrived, he recommended a local sushi place which offered omakase and Tsuki limited bowl that fitted our budget. On the day we were leaving, he told us about the Edo bus, which was conveniently located 5 minutes to the hotel and it could take us directly to Tokyo station for 100 yen without transfer. My mom and I really appreciated the warmhearted helps from this gentleman and other hotel staffs as well. We definitely would love to stay at Tsuki again when we come...
